In Florida our public records law is very, very open. Pretty much anything is public information here unless you are a LEO or other protected status. Even then, all that does is give your address some protection.
Recently, we had some low life that has made it his personal vandetta to screw with any civil servant, do a public information request for the health insurance plan information on ALL county employees, starting with teachers. County lost in court, they had to provide it. He got dependant information, addresses of where people lived at, etc. Only thing that wasn't given was social security numbers and dates of birth. This scrote was running around with the names of cops and teachers kids. He got all of that. Teachers returned the favor though and showed up at his front door after looking up his personal information on the clerk of court's website and property appraiser's website. Funny enough, he posted a long diatribe on a website about how that was an invasion of privacy, but him getting the names of the children of cops and teachers wasn't.
I STILL Don't know how the courts awarded him dependent information. They argued that since taxpayers help pay for the insurance, they are entitled to know who it goes to.
Frankly, I count the years by until I retire. When I do, I fully plan on taking out a one page spread in the local newspaper and writing a long "SCREW YOU" letter to the general public for my years of service to them, and their years of kicking us in the face.
