    FDA 1811 announcement

The 1811 FDA announcement hit this morning. Many vacancies across the U.S. The bad news is that it's only open to CTAP/ICTAP employees. Can there be that many displaced Federal employees qualified for the 1811 position to fill "many vacancies" across the nation?

With over 85% of the agency 1811's being former USSS 1811's, the chances are slim to none for anyone else.

USSS is the only 1811's I hear of that has a VERY high turn over rate. I wonder why that is?
    Wrong door, buddy

Considering my current agency is filled with 80% USSS, I can tell you exactly why: the protection detail. Every agent gets sent on one around the five year mark. That is three years of constant travel. If you can get that done before you have a wife and kids, you will be fine your career. If after, many find it difficult being away so much and leave. That is the number one answer I get when asked.

My grandfather retired from USSS and said many within the agency would say the Service treats their agents like the Apache Indians would their horses: ride them to death and then eat them.

    BP348,

Look at old newspaper articles concerning the FAMS, circa 2004 - 2005. Now keep in mind that the management is USSS heavy and quite a few of their senior management jumped over to the FAMS.

You just may answer your own question.

Nothing personal to any current USSS membership, but BIG hates you muthaphuckas. :

    Have a nice day.

Ha Ha, had several friends who were FAMS, they all said the same thing... all the management positions were sucked up by former USSS, who are setting up to double dip. From what I was told thats why alot of FAMS got the h@ll out. No possibility for promotion.
