Yes, I guess you could call it different. The stripes were the same but Buck Sargent the star was colored where with Senior Airman it wasn't. It was enough to tell the difference.

That's how it was when I was in. You had to be a little closer to see the colored star, where as the stripes you could see a lot further away. I used to have to move closer, LOL, to make sure, LOL...
