Is there any chance of a high school math teacher/coach getting a chance to become an ICE Special Agent? I have a B.A. in Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin. Do I need law enforcement experience?

Lots of new cops and fed special agents start with no experience.

My buddy went from being a financial adviser type (AG Edwards) to ICE SA. He has been doing it about 3 years now. He had no LE or military experience. Needless to say, he is in a fraud group.
I went from a laboratory to the US Marshals, having no LE experience. I had a couple Army MOSes, though.![]()

I had a guy in my Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) at FLETC who was hired by ICE at age 36, who was a CPA in a small little firm who did personal income taxes. He had no experience in law enforcement before that and held a bachelors. He has been assigned to gangs since he came back almost 4 years ago. No more accounting stuff (even at ICE) and he is having a great career.
So yes....you sure can do it!

One of the guys in my basic class at FLETC was a high school English teacher/coach before becoming a federal agent, and I've met another agent with FBI who was a professional football player, both having no prior law enforcement experience.

Welcom LH88Might wanna keep your wife's aunt out of trouble and be careful who you say this to down where you live....in the world I've come from that's called serious fraternization. Don't mean to be a killjoy, LOL. Just don't want your wife or her aunt to kill ya for something you didn't even do on purpose
Oh, and FWIW, in ANY profession I've come from, there is little correlation between one's degrees and their job description

@everyone... wow i was on here last night for about 5 hours trying to find a thread with someone in my situation and couldn't really find anything. I didn't even expect to receive any replies but damn you guys are fast at responding. Everyone's responses are awesome intel and I really appreciate all of the input. I was just worried about the law enforcement because I didn't want to loose my teaching job to go to border patrol or something. So I guess I'll just sit back and wait.
Any ideas when this hiring freeze for ICE will end though? I can't find anything on the news.
Thanks
