do you know anyone who is focused on getting hired by one specific agency

And there goal is to keep applying every chance they get until they hit the age limit. Many would say that its narrow minded but if their desire is to work at that one agency I say go for it. As long as during that time they are making themselves better applicant with training and school and work experience. I have a good friend who works. For a major city department but his goal has always been to work for the us marshals. He has been an officer for 2 yrs and plans on applying the next time around and will continue to do so in the meantime he will work on his masters and learning a foreign language. He has no desire at the moment to go anywhere but where he is at or the marshal. I suggested to him that he should try to join the military as an officer and do the shortest active duty enlistment possible which would also help him, but at 28 he says he is to old to try and become an officer due to his late start.

Other than to get veteran's points, I don't see the need to go in the military. I would stay put if I were him and just apply.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I agree with retdetsgt. In my humble opinion a person should not go into the military unless that is a major goal they have. They damn sure shouldn't be an officer and lead young men and women into combat unless they are truly committed. I don't want to rant or ramble but it is very important that someone is dedicated because it is only a matter of time before they are doing CASEVAC or Call for Fire in the Afghan mountains. Again no offense and I agree that the military is a great place for real world experience as long as the person knows what they are in for (repeat deployments, harsh living conditions, stop loss, etc). This is coming from a former army officer with 2 trips over to the sandbox. I wish your friend the best of luck as he pursues his goal.

If he's happy where he's at and only wants to apply with USMS then more power to him. Sounds like he's doing the right thing with working and going to school.
    Wrong door, buddy
