    Transportation Security Inspector

I have a few quick questions if anyone can help that would be awesome!!
I am LE officer in FLA and family and I are getting ready for a move to Knoxville, Tn. I have applied to the TSA as TSI in aviation and cargo. My application is in review so here goes the question:
1 Does anyone how long it takes to get everything done?
2 What is the process like?

I know that the TSI is LE and does not qualify for LEAP but if I get the itch that bad I will figure it out then. Any other info that I may need and anyone can give would be great.

Correction: a TSA inspector is NOT a LE job (no arrest authority, gun, police powers, etc.), it is a security/regulatory job. Not saying it's not a worthwhile job if you're interested, but it may save you some grief later if you have an accurate expectation of what the job is.

To answer your questions, this is a new process with TSA HR for this TSI position. In the past, you filled out a very 'at length' application with many questions on the CFR's. If you had no idea how to get those, you didn't have a chance. You also had to have some knowledge in the aviation community and usually someone from the TSI community would help you with the application process.
This new process is somewhat like the CBP application process. To me, it looks like you will not even have to get interviewed by the TSI department in which you are seeking to work for. You will get accepted after you pass the writing skills exam, referral selection and decision, pre-hire background check, and eventually job offer. I don't see an interview button on the TSA Dashboard for an interview. If it's anything like CBP, it could take months. Good luck in your process.
