    Patience

For everyone that is currently going through the process of trying to get hired by a federal agency, how are you able to stay so patient. I've heard so many stories how the process can take anywhere from 12-18 months. I know that the reward is huge if hired and that the time consuming traveling while going through the process and filling out the paperwork is well worth it. How many federal agencies have you applied to already, and how many more do you plan on applying to and will you keep applying to the same agencies until you no longer can? Also, what type of field are you currently in while waiting to get on

You remind me of the Riddler from the Batman comics, except he did occasionally engage in dialogue vice simply asking a never ending string of questions.

You remain patient the same way people do with anything else they want in life but have to wait for, you focus on the here-and-now instead of concentrating on when you'll hear again from the agency you applied to.

Buy a German Shepherd...that's what I did, any spare moment I had to think about it was consumed by my dog. In all seriousness, you'll hear from a good applicant coordinator after you passed the initial screening to forget that you ever applied. I know it's easier said than done, but it is some good advice. And just remember, different agencies go at different speeds. I applied to NCIS in 2008 and am still waiting to hear if I was put in the pool. I applied to DSS last November and am almost through the whole process with an offer hopefully coming soon. Also, use this waiting time to get serious about your fitness. It can help you stay motivated if you're working towards something (just make sure to take it easy on my when you lap me at FLETC).

I'm going to second that voltage. StudentCJ, ,your best bet is to stay active and work on PT during the wait. The last thing you want is to not be prepared. I always remember the words that are posted in many of these threads, " LIVE LIFE AS IF YOU DIDNT APPLY FOR THE G!" By doing that I jsut go one with my day and when the call comes, I will be ready. Just try and remain patient and motivated. The wait is long but its well worth it. Many of the agencies do work at different speeds, and its certainly a roller coaster ride, but your best bet is to hang on and ride it til the end.

    Keep your head up!!
