I'm guessing that this is a good thing, congrats!

Any idea at what grade they're going to be hiring Inspectors? And is uniformed patrol experience typically sufficient for making grade, or are they really looking for physical security/force protection experience?

NIPPD is National Infrastructure Protectorate Programs Directorate is a newly designed entity under DHS for the protection of this nations critical infrastructure. Federal buildings, chemical plants, power plants and so forth. In essense FPS never enforced immigration laws so we really never fit well with ICE. No offense directed towards the ICE guys and girls here.
It was a love/hate, give/take relationship with ICE. But now we are at least 90% on our own now.

As far as hiring inspector positions, they are career ladder progression
7/9/11/12 and I heard a possible 13 coming soon. All new hires are brought in at 7 or 9. Unless you really know somebody, have the juice to back it up
and get placed in a area commander or district commander spot. I have seen this rare occurance happen once since I have been with FPS. One we get over the ooooo's and the ahhhhh's of the transfer. The inspector positions will open back up. We have many at FLETC now and still others waiting to go to FLEATECK...LMAO

They "In hiring would like to see some significant physical security experience, hence the job is 80% physical security 20 % Law Enforcment/investigation. Plus you must love to travel. We have national security deployments and training so you can and will be traveling 6 to 8 weeks a year. Plus all of your FLETC training unless you already have that from another federal agency.
