Yes it is true.
Dear Colleague,
I am pleased to announce that we will be raising the Journeyman level for our dedicated CBP personnel who serve on the front lines, day in and out, along our borders and ports of entry across the country.
This important milestone recognizes that the mission of our CBP Officers, Agriculture Specialists, and Border Patrol Agents has become increasingly more dangerous and complex since September 11, 2001. On a daily basis, our CBP employees are bolstering our efforts to secure the border, assisting Mexico in targeting violent drug cartels, and confronting an ever expanding array of threats to our country’s security—from terrorism and organized crime; to weapons, drug and human smuggling; to threats to our domestic agriculture and food sources; to fraudulent products that pose safety threats and undermine U.S. industries.
We anticipate making this increase effective during the first quarter of Calendar Year 2010.
Congratulations again on this well-deserved recognition—we are truly grateful for your service.
Yours very truly,
Janet Napolitano
Secretary of Homeland Security

My new hero!
Great news for you guys! congrats!
Oh and ROS LMAO on "Mark Harmon's Wingman"![]()
Good news. There should be less of an impetus for BPA's and CBPO's to look for SA jobs. Now they can keep some experienced people around who would have otherwise left in search of more pay.

CBP has really lucked out the past couple of years...20 year modified retirement and now GS-12...Great for them......
Now if we could get a modified 20 year retirement at FPS.....LMMFAO
I won't hold my breath.....![]()
Well FPS's 1811's have 6C and just got thier GS-13 too.
But for the rest of us FPS Inspectors and Police officers we are SOL.
But God Bless CBP its about time DHS did something for them...
Not meaning to take this thread off topic BUT to answer your question
Inspectors (0080's) GS7/9/11/12 basically perform a trifold mission
#1 Law Enforcement for around 9000 or so federal offices/buildings nationwide.
#2 Physical Security Assessments or BSA's for the above buildings, helping federal agencies with thier PS programs and manage the contract guard force serving as a COTR to them.
#3 National Deployments aka NSSE, G-20, Katrina, Dem/Rep Conventions, POTUS Inauguration and so forth.
Our 0083's just do #1 and #3 they do not stand post or work access control booths daily like most 0083's....Although 0083's are a dying breed in FPS
most have been converted over to Inspector.
Our 1811's...Well we are still trying to figure out just what they do...![]()
Is Inspector the same as the LESO position in FPS?
The 1 FPS 1811 they had in Michigan, jumped ship to ICE/OI.
BIG SEXY says - "When life hands you lemons, take those same lemons & smash them into lifes' ugly *** mugg!! That'll learn'em to give you lemons."
Yes Inspector = LESO, Just a fancy buzzword title from the former director of FPS Wendell Shingler and his staff....
Of course our big buzz nowadays is FPS leaving ICE and going to the NIPPD
Can't blame that 1811 in Michigan, most likely a better future with ICE.

I hope CBP getting 12's gives a really big shove to IEAs getting at least an 11.
