USBP/CBP to GS-12??

I've been on A/L so I haven't seen anything official yet but the thing I'm wondering about is if they are going to upgrade everyone else.

Why be a supervisor GS-12 and put up with all the B.S. when you can be a senior agent GS-12. I've already heard a few people say that if the first line supervisor positions isn't up'ed then they are going to bust back or over or whatever to a senior agent.

I don't know about CBP but in the patrol the 2 best jobs are senior agent and 2nd line supervisor.

12's are suppose to be moved up to 13's if they have 52 weeks in as supervisor. 13's will be bumped up to 14's'. Case by case basis for 14's to move up.

I hope CBP getting 12's gives a really big shove to IEAs getting at least an 11.

I cant understand how they can justify CBPO's getting 12's yet IEA's get nothing. Wasnt there just a push for IEA's to get 11, but it was shot down?

Exactly, Its takes the right people pushing the right buttons at the right time.
Not the typical upper management telling the grunts, "Well we really tried to get it for you guys." Which in itself is a bold faced lie..Management got something outta the deal. Just the regular joes and janes got screwed.
I remember seeing a afge email about the IEA's getting GS-11. AFGE stated it was just a rumor. I wish the IEA's well and hope they get it.

If the Govie can justify giving 6C retirement to BOP, then for the love of Jesus then can give it to the rest of us poor bastards...If the proper paygrades and retirement were instituted throughout the entire Federal Goverment law enforcement system. It could quite possibly reduce the career hopping from one agency to another for better benefits by 50%.

I don't know exactly what IEA's do so I can't really comment one way or another about what would be an appropriate pay grade for them. I can say that what CBP is paid, does not effect what IEA, ICE agents, DOD police or any other job is paid. They are different jobs and have different responsibilities. I can also comment about CBPOs. Way before the merger we were 9's, then someone figured out that we should be 11's, then we merged. Now instead of just needing to know immigration or customs laws we needed to know both. Assuming 11's were the appropriate grade before the merger, then it makes sense that there should have been a grade increase with the increase in responsibility and knowledge, but there wasn't. If the IEA position warrants an 11, then I hope you receive it. I was happy at this agency with an 11 now I'm extremely happy with the 12.

That's what were being told but so far nothing official has been put out verifing that GS-12's will goto GS-13 & GS-13's will go to GS-14's ect...

As it stands right now sometime after January 1st, GS-11 with 1+ year as a GS-11 will move upto a GS-12. Current GS-12's will stay GS-12's.
