So what was it that they gave you a call about? If it was to inform you that your in the pool, did you get the letter or are you expecting to get the letter?

They were calling me back about my status. I call once a month and had left a message. I've been waiting for a hiring pool decision for 3 months now. I'm obviously still at work, but will hopefully get the letter today.

Hello all,

I just received my hiring pool letter. I feel very lucky. Hopefully I will make it into the next class, but just being in the pool and knowing I will make it to FLETC at some point is great. Good luck to all of those still waiting - I know how it feels.

Who is it that you call? Is it a central HR number/contact? Sorry about all the questions, but my BI contact is retired, and I officially have no POC to let me know where I stand. As you can tell Im really eager to get started.... been in this process for quite a while now. Thanks

Just curious, has anyone on this thread successfully completed every step of the application process but then been turned down when they got to the hiring panel?

I have a friend who died on the vine while in the hiring pool. There is really no sure thing until after you have started the job.

Not sure if anyone in this thread have (we're probably only talking about a dozen or so people posting in this thread). If you're asking overall if anyone has made it to the hiring pool and not gotten hired, the answer is yes. For different reasons, but mainly due to not having skills that were in high demand, but not having anything to screen them out of the process.

I do not believe it happens often, but it has happened.

As i'm sure many of you in this thread already know, NCIS canceled their last class for this fiscal year. It is disappointing, but I kind of expected it when Gates came out saying he wanted to cut the defense budget a couple weeks ago. Hopefully hiring picks up in October.

Thanks for the info ITH. Do you know when they would most likely offer the next class? I am currently in the process with the FBI and they are moving me along pretty quickly, but am also along in the process with NCIS.

Does anybody have any pros and cons about each agency - FBI, NCIS?

Titus - they said Fall a fall class is possible, but even that is unsure.

From what I have read, after BI is completed, then comes the Hiring board, what happens after you get accepted into the hiring pool, is it likely that you get hired right away?

I got a letter saying I was in the hiring pool in May, got the call offering me a job in Aug. I've got coworkers that were in the hiring pool over a year. Just depends.
