Still waiting, haven't heard a thing...
Alright, let me preface my post by saying these are all rumors.....
The calls for the May class should be going out within the next couple of weeks, or as soon as a few days. This will be the last class for fy2010.
NCIS is gearing up for more hiring next year, maybe as many as six classes.
Good luck to everyone waiting!

Thanks for the info, any idea on how big the pool is right now? I hope they had a panel recently, otherwise I'm still in limbo.

I saw on the another forum (911), that there was suppose to be 7 classes for FY10. Just wanted to check if that was correct. Ros, I mean Kimble do you have any confirmation?
I think the poster that stated that meant FY2011, as this year (FY2010) only has two classes (one this month, and one in May). Consider that info rumor mill. Could very well be in the planning at HQ, but until the budget is approved, it's not final. Until we get closer to Oct, when the start of FY2011 begins, there will be no definitive answer on the number of classes for next year. If I hear anything in the meantime, I'll put the word out there, but I'll do my best to keep from posting info that's only scuttlebutt.

Does anyone know whether an official confirmation is suppose to go out from HQ notifying you that your Background is officially complete and you are officially in the hiring pool?
Everything went extremely well with my Background from conversations with the investigator. However, my BI was his last official duty prior to retirement. So at this point I want to inquire as to whether or not the BI is complete, but cannot reach the investigator via cell or email. I’m guessing he's officially retired, but I never received confirmation that my BI was officially complete. Maybe just over-anxious on my part, but I really just wanted to know where I stand. Any suggestions?
No, there is not a typical notification of the BI being completed, you usually just get called to complete the next step in the process (usually the med exam/urinalysis), or if that's already been done during the BI, get notified of being added to the hiring pool (usually by letter).
If you shoot me a PM with your BI's name, I can tell you if he is retired (can't give anything more specific than whether he's retired or not, but I can check that rather easily if he retired recently).

Is that something your able to see on the Navy directory? If so, I have a contact that can give me that info.
Thanks for the info on the BI..... My med and urinalysis is all done... the only thing with me is that I've never recieved any mail correspondence during any part of this process (with exception to the first letter stating that I passed the initial battery of tests). And in reading other posts, seems like others recieve correspondence pretty much through-out the entire process. Not sure why my experience has been different. Again, probably just over-anxious on my part. I guess I grew accustomed to having a NCIS POC for this last month or two.

With my experience, I got an email to say I passed the initial screening and would be referred to the panel (after receiving an email saying I had not passed, long story). That was the only official correspondance I've had, still waiting to hear whether I got put in the hiring pool or not. I did receive email's along the way to clarify things for my background check and to schedule the medical, but nothing official stating you are now at this phase of the process. NCIS does not have the most transparent hiring process as you've already noticed, still a great agency though.
My BI Investigator mentioned a class in August this year. Could there be any truth to that or is the next class definately in June? He may have just been mistaken.
