Has anyone else received the call lately?

Congrats to everyone that has received an academy date. I just received my letter from the hiring board last week placing me in the hiring pool. Now comes the fun part of waiting and wondering where you are ranked on the list and when will you get the call. Hopefully I will here something with in the next two years. Is it correct to assume that if you are in the hiring pool that you will be called to the academy eventually or can you sit in the pool and never be called up? Again, congrats to you all and hopefully some day we will be working together

I just joined the website so I am still trying to figure out how things work. I had to get on just to give a big thanks to all who posted info. I just receive my call a few day ago and I will be starting March 1st. I hav had so many questions and you all have done a great job of anwsering so many and even asking some of the same questions I had. Thanks again so much and now if I have more questions I know where to go. I am sure I will be meeting some of you soon. And to those still waiting good luck!

I’ve been following the forums for only a short time, and you definitely seem to possess a wealth of knowledge with regards to the NCIS hiring process.

I’m currently at the BI stage of the process. In reading some posts, it seems that quite a few candidates have received letters prior to the BI stage. I never received such correspondence, but as stated, am currently at the BI stage of the process. I have been informed that there is a class in March 2010 and if all goes well with my BI, I hope I can be part of this class. My question(s) to you is, should I expect to receive a formal letter indicating that I am to attend the March 2010 class or can this be done via phone call? If a phone call confirmation would suffice, who should I expect to hear from? Lastly, how close up to the beginning of the March 2010 class can one expect to hear news as to whether or not he or she is selected to attend? In other words, is it possible to hear on February 22 that I will be attending a March 1 class (1 weeks notice), or is it reasonable to assume that if I haven’t heard anything at this point, I will not be attending the March 2010 class?

If I do not get selected for March 2010 class, I can always hope for the second 2010 class. But, as you can tell I am very eager to begin my career with NCIS. This has been a long time dream of mine.

I spoke to the lady at HR and she stated that the March 1, class was already filled.

I got an email from NCIS about 6 weeks ago telling my background was finished and my packet had ben sent on to the next panel. A few questions: Does anyone know when the next panel is and do you receive the results of the panel via snail mail? I want to work for NCIS badly, and compared to the other DCIOs, they have their crap together more than anyone, but man their hiring process sure is frustrating...I know, I know, tell you something you don't know.

I heard there were only going to be two classes this fiscal year; one in March and one in May. Are they thinking of adding another one?

You're probably right about the start date being in May. I heard just two classes this year and next.

I haven't heard anything about a class scheduled for June. Unless something pops up at the last second that is. Only classes schedule for this year are in March and May.

If May is the next class, I'm guessing they'll have a hiring panel in March, hopefully I'll get word then (good or bad, I just want to know). I take my DSS BEX in two weeks here in Dallas, if I pass, I would not be a bit surprised to see State Department offer me first. Their hiring process is much more transparent and they actually have staff that call you back, tell you where you are in the hiring pool ranking list, tell you when prospective classes are coming up, etc, etc. In saying that, I'd take NCIS over DSS. Who knows, maybe I get shut out from the pool for NCIS and bomb my BEX and none of this will even matter. The month of March is either going to be really good for me or really bad.

Not to hijack this thread, but I just passed my BEX with DS today!!! I'm a second time applicant with them. I applied to the November 2008 NCIS announcement and would not be a bit surprised to see me get an offer with State Department before NCIS, even though I applied to State over a year later...got to love the feds. I'm still waiting on NCIS' next hiring panel to review all my stuff...

I figure the end of March, early April is when they would be notifying people.
