    Secret Service Uniform Division

I was wanting to know if anyone was in the process for the UD. I have successfully passed the POST test and had my initial interview. Currently, I am patiently waiting for the call to set up the board interview. If any current or former USS UD officers are out there please lend a helping message on how fast the phases take place. The gentleman who I initially interviewed with stated that I could be in the academy by January...

There is a new format of 180 cycle from POST/TEA until appointment, not sure how accurate but that is the word.

Hang tight, took me 2+ years to get hired...and keep copies of everything.

I took the POST today and was told that the process from start to finish takes 180-days. I am taking the TEA but I am not sure which position I am more interested in Special Investigator or Uniformed Division. I've always wanted to do local law enforcement so the Uniformed Division is probably going to be the winner. Are you only chasing after the UD spot?

    Good luck!!

    Good luck!!
You are looking in the wrong spot. UD is the opposite of local law enforcement. Save yourself the heartburn that 80% of UD suffers. Just apply to a local law enforcement agency.

I just got the paperwork for my background check today and intend on mailing it out tommorrow afternoon. I am also more interested in the 1811 position but I have no previous law enforcement experience. The gentleman who did my initial interview told me that most 1811's have some sort of LFE before applying. Two years in the UD and Ill be ready for a 1811 position. But its one step and one day at a time

Good luck to you! I haven't gotten my POST score back but the more I've learned about the USSUD the less interested I am. I think I'm going to pursue other avenues in law enforcement. The TEA test was no laughing matter...whoa!

I got notice that I passed my POST. The test is suppose to be good for any agency that utilizes it. Now I have to see if this is true w/another agency I have interest in.

The test is pretty straightforward. As for the email, make a copy of it. I took the POST Test for the Capital Police also but could not use the scores for the SSUD.

I have been meaning to call the US Capitol Police Recruting Office to see if I could use my passing POST that I took with the USSS in order to skip taking the same test again. I've been told the POST passing grade is good for any division utilizing the exam. Any new news with you?

That is partially true. As long as the organization takes the same type of POST test. What that means is the USCP use the POST test without the written portion. When I started the process for the USS UD I had to retake the POST Test becaue they use the written section. As for news I have my Board Interview this Tuesday.

Well that kind of sucks. It looks like I may have to make a short drive to San Antonio in December. I was hoping to bypass it and start the process prior. I still have to call. Tomorrow I have a PD interview. Hoping for the best. TTYL
