I got a seat for it October 20th. Again in Philly.

Anyone else going? Anywhere?

I know the previous thread on the subject slowed down through the end of the Summer as FY2009 comes to a close here, so maybe I'll chime in under this thread in lieu of FY2010 SA Phase I testing, as well.

I got an email phase I invite last night, too. Of particular interest, they said they are primarily looking for the following critical skill backgrounds:

*Computer Science/Information Technology
*Foreign Language
*Accounting/Finance
*Engineering
*Physical Sciences
*Intelligence Background (Military Intelligence,
Counterterrorism, Foreign Counterintelligence)

Note interestingly enough the specific omission of the law, law enforcement, and military critical skills.

Has it been confirmed as of recent, whether or not the FBI will pay PCS for your first move upon initial assignment after NAT? I've heard rumors of yes when most don't, but have not been able to confirm this.

Good to hear!

I pinged on the MI and Language as I was
a Linguist in the Corps (Marine Intelligence, believe it!)

I haven't heard anything about them paying for your
first PCS, but I will look into it now that you mention it.

Good luck, Semper Fi!

That's a great combo, military intelligence and a foreign language. That's the 27xx MOS?

I know there is a $22k bonus for a few select high-cost areas living like DC, Boston, NYC area, and California, but I'm not sure they will do anything for you on your first PCS unless you were already an FBI employee.

Hey that's awesome. I don't mean to be a b*** but you mentioned that you got d/q from the Marshals for drug hx. FBI is even worse plus there's the poly. I don't mean to rain on your parade but they may even ask if you have applied to other Federal agencies and the status of those applications.

However, I wish you luck. I took the FBI phase 1 exam in the summer and I did not pass so I hope you get farther than I.

Actually,
The FBI is quite a bit more lenient (as is the NSA) the FBI also has their standards posted here.

And a poly is a poly. You are going to run into it in this line of work. Don't lie, and don't overthink it. If they ask If you have applied to other agencies, and you have, then say yes. That's what I'm going to do.

I'll see how it goes after I head down there.

edit: Also, when you are filling out the paperwork for them, they give you the exact acceptable thresholds, which I am well within.

I stand corrected....like I said, I wasn't trying to be a downer. That's good. Good luck with them.

It's cool. I just wanted to pass along the info, since from what I heard, it was a fairly recent change.

I think it is now. It was in the process of getting Shuffled by HQMC when I was getting out. When I came in we were 267x cryptologic linguists, (read: you will be an analyst a lot or the Master Driver, needs of the Marine Corps)
I think that stayed our primary, but we were granted a secondary depending on your language group. I think that fell under 27xx.

Are we supposed to get confirmation of a test seat after we RSVP to their initial email invite? They said seats would only be given on a fist come basis and I'm just wondering if I need to confirm that I got a seat?

this is not a wedding so no need to rsvp. you apply online, they like you, they invite you for the phase 1 written exam. you show up on the date and time on the email. simple as that.

Actually,
my email said to confirm my seat by email. I emailed the POC they gave me, and I got an email back from her confirming my seat.
Read the email you got, follow the instructions. If it says attire is business casual, don't show up in jeans.

As of right now, they are paying for your first PCS, but there's quiete a few hoops to jump through before worrying about that though, so who knows what the policy could be when it's that time for you.

For my Phase I, I showed up in khaki pants and a collared shirt (short sleeve), some guys were in ties, etc. but I wanted to be comfortable during mine. To my knowledge the test no longer includes the comprehensive Math portion, so it should be a little better.

Good luck to you both!

When I sat for mine, my email told me to call a number to confirm your test date, your name, and phone number.
