At Kennedy Space Center they do. A lot of patrolling the compound, writing speeders to employees who violate the 15-20 mph, some ID verification at fixer, etc.... Work like a mall security guard....very little if any "real" police work or call response like the US Park Police. If two employees assault each other (not likely is such a professional/scientific environment), they do respond, but the OIG is immediately notified who handles the matter. And before anyone mentions a tactical team there, it is not made of 083's. It is from Wackenhut contractors.

I did not know that. I once traveled to Orlando to watch the SWAT Competitions for different agencies. Their team competed in the match. They were actually good. They ranked in the top 10 when it was finished.
Eunice: A .22? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.

Yes, there is Wackenhut, and then there is Wackenhut. There is a difference between their 'run-of-the-mill' employee, and those tasked to protect high-value targets, such as NASA, or a nuclear facility.

Exactly. Mostly built from former Team/Group operators - not the garden variety gate guard.

I used to work for Wackenhut, and I almost took a job with Wackenhut Services Inc (WSI). Wackenhut is actually G4Wackenhut which (Group4) which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Group4Securitas (formerly Group4Securicour). These are your general run of the mill white shirt black pants, "may I see your ID badge ma'am" type of security officers. WSI, a subsidiary of Wackenhut, provides police and fire services and more upgraded security to their clients. These are the type of guys you'll find at military installations, Iraq, Kosovo, etc...

Also, I did once email the Chief of the Kennedy Space Center Police, inquiring about employment. I detailed my law enforcement and Wackenhut experience. He essentially told me that unless I was a retired LEO or in my 40's, it was extremely unlikely they were going to hire me.
