When applying for USSS positions, there's a box on the application form that requires the applicant to certify their eyesight meets a particular standard. One of the requirements is that the applicant's eyesight should be "no worse than 20/60 uncorrected, correctable to 20/20 in each eye."
On the other site that begins with "O", there's countless applicants who have been applying, taking tests, having interviews etc., and then getting LASIK to get their vision up to standard. How does that work? I spent a fair chunk of cash getting LASIK before applying (so I could truthfully check the box about eyesight). To be honest, I wouldn't have spent money on LASIK if I knew that I could lie on my application form about my eyesight, then have LASIK if I made it through the process.
Or am I missing the point completely? Is there some unwritten rule that if an applicant "intends" to have LASIK done in the future, they can apply and check the box that will apply at such future time?
