    Truth?

I read on the FBI and a few other federal law enforcement sites that they disqualify someone for smoking marijuana more than three times. Is this true? Also, in the section that describes degrees wanted, is it better to have something in accounting or math related field rather than a criminal justice degree?
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The FBI is the major agency that looks for specific degrees. The FBI fast tracks those with certain degrees. Right now, the flavor of the day is biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, and several languages.

Most other federal agencies jsut want a degree. They do not give extra consideration to a CJ. Some agencies like accounting such as IRS and some smaller OIGs.

Most local agencies I know are the same way, though there are exceptions.

As far as for the marijuana, different agencies have different standards for the amount of times, length of time since last use, and circumstances of the use. Three times, under the right circumstances, (such as experimental while in college) is allowed in most agencies that I know of. But, one use recently, or while classified as someone who should know better (like a police officer), will get you disqualified.

    true

If I'm not mistaken you can't have smoked marijuana more than 10 times in your life. Another stipulation of this rule is that you cannot have smoked marijuana within 3 years of the time that you applied for the position. If you are within the 10 times you may want to jot down when it was because they ask you. This Alum from my school is an agent and he gave a talk. He said that in one of the interviews it is very likely that they will ask you the circumstances when it was and all of that stuff. He said that you will also want to remember who you smoked with. They have infact called the people, it's not like they would arrest the person, but they did it. Also, if you lie during the polygraph test it's just as if you fail the drug test so that's a no go as well.
