ICE Test

Hey Everyone,

I have the ICE test next week. I got the TSA booklet so that I can study for it. I am a little nervous though. For agent positions Ive heard they mainly accept the average 30 year old person. Also I heard they accept some college students right out of school, thats the category I fall under. What are you thoughts or recommendations of doing well on this test?

Also... the dress code, Ive read the other forums, and heard wear jeans and a shirt or business casual?

When I took the test I went in business casual, if I remember right I even wore a tie.

As far as the study guides go I'm not up on what's out there any more. When I took the test it was still the treasury exam so I went and got those study guides.

Worry about the age thing later if you don't pass the test it won't matter.

I have the TEA study guide I picked up from the borders bookstore. It has 3 parts, verbal reasoning, math, and problems for investigation.

Now with the study guide I downloaded from the ICE website, it only has the logical reasoning piece. I see no math, so.. crossing my fingers, does this mean I dont have to study any math?

First off, is this an exam for an IEA position or criminal investigator? Both are totally different tests.

When I took the test in 07' (and those I know that took it in 08') It did have a math section. There is logical reasoning, math, and a basic grammar portion. There is no investigations section so you can ignore that in the TEA book. The math is very similar to the TEA (just a little easier IMO) If you study the TEA guide you will be fine on the math portion.

This manual will familiarize you with the Logical Reasoning Test, the Arithmetic Reasoning Test, and the Writing Skills Test and will give you a chance to study some sample questions and explanations for the correct answers to each question. If you have not had much practice taking written, multiple-choice tests, you will have an opportunity to see what the tests look like and to practice taking questions similar to those on the tests.

Its for the Immigration enforcement agent position not the criminal investigative position. So since they are two different tests that means no math? I just looked around on the website and didnt see anything. But I have the study guide which they sent me that only has a prep for the logical reasoning piece.

The IEA Test is completely different. I think there may be some basic math and logic, but nothing even close to what is on the TEA. From what I understand its more similar to a police-type exam. I have not taken it though so Im sorry im not much help. Good luck!

Just took the immigration enforcement agent test. It did not seem too bad. I am pretty confident I did alright. Was good experience though. Any ideas on how long it takes to receive the results? Couple of weeks right and that would be in the mail?

I was right out of college. I had very little problems getting through the hiring process. I would say if you pass the test, you should be fine. My old roommate from college also got through with ease (straight out of college). Hope this helps. I would highly recommend the treasury agent prep book for preparing for the test.

Thats actually the booklet I was reviewing for the test. It was a great book. Sounds good about the hiring process. It seems like you are going to FLTC soon? If you dont mind could you give me a time frame on the hiring process? For example how long it took you to hear back about the test.. then to the panel interview and so forth?

PS. You are going to be a IEA?
