FAMS Exams/Hiring 2009/200(?)

Whats up guys -

I was looking through the other FAM thread and saw the AVUE website to look for job openings. I looked through their site and also USA.Gov's website and saw nothing in either.. It's obviously leading me to believe there are no openings right now. Am I looking in the right place? Is there anything else I can look into that pertains to their agency?

I am most definitely looking into this as a stepping stone. I am applying to multiple agencies, including local PD to keep my options open. I am young (not married and no kids), and not that I would know the true lifestyle, but my assumption of the odd hours and constant flights is something that I could put up with for some time while I look into branching off into my own path.

Received contigent offer via email yesterday, contigent based on successfully passing subsequent phases of the hiring process (background, criminal & financial check, med, computer based test, interview, etc).

That's good to hear pearl. Did you apply through the most recent vacancy a couple of months ago or last year? I applied through the most recent announcement and I am really excited to hear from them. Any information is appreciated...Thank you.

jeeper, i applied to the feb 09 announcement. you may already know this but the forum over on forums.officer.com have more lengthy threads, more info, and a longer thread especially on the fam position.

there is no opening right now? there are no scheduled exams? how often do they usually hold them?

Good to hear that they are already in contact with applicants...that is the same announcement I applied through. I am familiar with that thread as well. Hopefully I will hear from them soon...

I received the contingent offer via email [feb 09 announcement] and it is by no means a final offer of employment. It clearly states the offer is contingent on available funds, an applicant successfully passing criminal/financial background, medical, panel interview, more testing, etc. Even then an applicant is still not guaranteed a position. My guess would be location was the determining factor whether an applicant [from feb 09 announcement] received the COE.

Hard to fill (also high in demand & high cost of living) locations such as NYC and DC probably have priority in moving along applicants.

I'm not sure when the next announcement will be. My suggestion would be to check on this forum [and other forums with a more active FAM thread] to determine previous announcements were posted. Perhaps a trend can be established as to how often FAM announcements are made. This time it was feb 09, if last time was two years ago, then maybe in 2011 will be the next announcement period?

Pearl, It's good to hear that you received a conditional offer. It's also good to hear that they are moving forward with applicants from the Feb. 2009 announcement.

We are hiring a lot right now, there are always people in the office having interviews.
