As far as I have heard, region 2 and region 7 are the only two regions that will be hiring. I could be wrong.

Worst case scenario - call and get a place, just to be on the safe side. That'll give you the option of attending if you can work out the logistics of flying down for a day or two.

Er, it's kinda gone very quiet. Is it because everyone is trying to keep the latest recruiting event for region 7 a secret until it's over?

Wish we were scheduled for the same date and time so we could have met up. You flying in or driving? I am flying from Nebraska and its just going to be a short stay for me.

I am scheduled for Monday 1300 so I will try and get you guys as much info as possible. I dont want to get in trouble for releasing to much information, dont know if I can but dont want to chance it.

Whats your background?

Where are you guys on your run time?

I hate running but I have been busting my butt off the past few months and its really paying off! Since its warming up I have been running near home and man these hills are a killer but I figured what better way to help build up my legs? I have started sprints to get used to moving faster. Last timed run I did on a track was about a month ago and finished at 12min 22sec. I can run for miles but not fast at all, Lol!

As far as situp's and pushup's I have always had pretty good upper body strength so I am not worried at all. I would assume with the amount thats posted we have 1min. to do this?

I've been working on my fitness for 4 months now. I used to be a kinda fat, sedentary guy, enjoyed a good 12 or so beers each weekend plus a couple of bags of chips, and didn't do any exercise whatsoever. I started about 30 mins of cardio per day, sometimes 15 mins of cardio and 30 mins of push ups, sits ups etc.

My first 1.5 mile time was 14.5 minutes. Now I consistently run it at about 12 minutes, and that's not pushing it 110% (maybe pushing it 80%). Push-ups - I can get about 30 or 35 per minute, and I haven't started hitting those hard yet. Sit-ups are a disaster for me, and I can get perhaps 25 per minute with my fingers locked behind my neck, and going from flat-on-my-back-on-the-floor to up-against-my-knees (i.e. not a crunch, but the largest range of motion I can get with my knees bent at 90 degrees.) Stretching is also pathetic - I can barely touch my toes, but I've only been stretching for a couple of weeks.

I had originally been trying for the FBI fitness test, but the sprinting kills me. I can't get my 300m anywhere close to 1 minute, let alone 50 seconds. My best yet is 1 minute 8 seconds.

I tend not to lose energy and I can run distances for miles and miles, although these days my knees start to swell and hurt after about 30 minutes of solid running.

I'm guessing that if I get through this process, FLETC will kill me and I'll likely end up failing the fitness part of it. Not that a single fitness test will kill me, but rather the whole idea of intensive physical exercise every day will make my knees collapse and I'll end up unable to run at all. Perhaps this whole Marshals thing is best left to the guys in their early 20s?

Just a little info.... For the Info Session coming up this week, the USMS are planning on hiring 55-60 out of the 496 registrants. The posistions will be filled in DC.
