Hello all new to the forum. I got in on the Washington session for next Tuesday. As for the medical exam. I heard they do the interview, medical and fit test all in the same day, but I may be wrong.

rlc427- I am sorry to hear about your arm, well but like you said it looks like you made the right decision and things are going to turn out for the better!!!!
The reason I asked about BP is that back in 2000 I was in the hiring process for BP ( Las Cruces, NM) passed everything board, medical, PT and then I was offered another tempting job so I took that one instead.
Chemo- I hope you have a quick recovery on that ankle. Your wife and my husband deserve an award for being such go getters and always going the extra mile to show their support in all we do... BRAVO!!!!
Chace-Any luck w/ your hotel search in Knoxville? regarding your goatee question my book of interview etiquette says that a well trimmed goatee will be fine... LOL all kidding aside I don't see why it would ruin your first impression unless USMS has a code on facial hair .. but if you wanna be SAFE than SHAVE.
LE has been good can't complaint but one of my goals is the Deputy Marshal so here I am preparing for it and hoping 4 the best.
The support @ home from family and friends it is always important and seems to ease off some of the stress.
It sure is great we all have WONDERFUL SUPPORTIVE spouses, family and friends ...
Welcome Cybershock and thanks for the info.
Good luck on Tues.
I got the info from a friend of mine who is a deputy marshal, but he has been in for a long time. So they may have changed it. And I was told the interviews were in May. I am struggling also with the sit and reach. I have been having my wife push on my shoulders to make sure I get a good stretch to start loosening up the muscles.
macteam - I’m sure you've already looked this over but here are the vision requirements for the usms:
-20/20 binocular vision is required and may be corrected with lenses to meet this standard.
-Uncorrected vision must test 20/200 or better in each eye. (Any surgery to correct vision may be disqualifying dependent on the outcome of the surgery.)
-Near vision must be 20/40 or better (corrected or uncorrected.)
I’m not positive but I believe that uncorrected vision of 20/200 is considered legally blind. So as long as you’re not "blind" then you should be good. I would probably hold of on the Lasik if at all possible though. I wouldn’t want to risk any issues with the Medical.
My eyes won't pass as is - they are 20/20 corrected, but a little worse than 20/200 uncorrected. I didn't expect the hiring process to be so quick, and I was expecting to be sitting around for a year before I heard anything from anybody. I had planned to have Lasik in the next month or so.
hmmm... Well in that case you may want to get the lasik ASAP. I'm not convinced the hiring process is going to be super quick, nothing is with the G. But that doesn’t mean the medical will be too far out. I’ve read on other forums that the last time they did FCIP in 07' there really wasn’t any specific order to the process, but it wasn’t all completed on the same day, so you may have plenty of time. Tough call though. That would be a good question to ask at the info session, maybe one of the recruiters there can offer some advice.
I would not get my hopes up that this will be a quick process because it won't. I believe many of the 07 FCIP'ers are still waiting on steps of the process. If I was guessing, I would say probably 2 years minimum.
This is what confuses me a little. Why would the USMS start hiring again when they have adequate reserves to send to FLETC? Or are the 07ers either aging out of the process, finding other employment or simply losing interest? Is it a function of how long background investigations and the whole hiring process takes, and by the time we're through with it, all the 07ers will have been sent to FLETC?
Also, is there a rule that says the 07ers must be hired before the 09ers? Or are all FCIPers stuffed into one large pool that the USMS draws from? For example, say (for the sake of argument) there's an 07er who qualified and made it through the process simply with a bachelor's degree and no relevant experience, and he's been waiting to go to FLETC ever since. And say (for the sake of argument) that there's an 09er who has a masters degree, five years of military experience and five years of police experience. Would the USMS skip the 07er in favor of the highly-qualified 09er? Or does it operate on a "first in, first out" basis?
(That "highly qualified" person isn't me - I'm nothing but 100% average and will be very lucky to even get an interview.)

NEWS UPDATE - recruitment flyer has been posted for REGION 7
http://www.usmarshals.gov/careers/region7_flyer.pdf
This covers NM, AZ, some of TX and a tiny bit of CA.
Good luck for those out west!
Listen up guys. Don't sweat the '07 guys. They are processing for the specific districts they applied to. There may have been a small percentage hired so far for the districts. Let's say district x is told they can have 5 slots in the next academy, they choose from their most qualified list. Everyone should get an interview date and if you pass the interview depending where you fall on the list you will get a tentative offer. Then the medical, background, FIT, etc. It's good to have a positive attitude but in reality if you score in the middle you might not hear anything for a couple years. Just trying to keep in perspective. I have seen one of these FCIP programs first hand. Be patient, stay motivated, and things may happen. You are only at the first step with many more to go.

Thanks for the heads up Phillyfed
Would anyone happen to know if this will be the last info session for the year with the Marshals, or are others scheduled?
Kyn - there's info about the upcoming recruiting drive (Region 7) on the Marshal's site right now. End of March.
Yep I saw your post Mac, I should have elaborated further if this second recruiting drive (Region 7) was going to be the last one for this year or were others planned. I will try to get out to the west coast for this; however I live in New England and making arrangements to get out that far might be difficult. Unfortunately I was unable to get through on the Region 2 this week.
