    March/april dates!!!

Swithback, i have read many of your responses and they are very informative and helpful-thanks!!!! Not quite sure what you were implying with your response to my first post. Just curious if anyone that applied for the d.c./north carolina region has heard anything. As stated earlier i took the fit test in early october and have yet to hear anything. The silence is frustrating and i am just grasping at any insight available. Thanks for any help. (currently in l.e.- b.a. In criminal justice- former professional athlete)

If you read the TOS, we prefer people to introduce themselves around here. Would you walk into a strangers home and just start asking questions? Of course not. It would be rude. Similarly, we prefer people to introduce themselves before asking a slew of quewstions. Not only is it in the TOS, but it seems to be common sense.

    Chill

    Switchback ,

just chill!!!! Don't need you preaching to me. Just asking some simple questions and asking for some insight. You may be knowledgeable about the marshals and an assortment of other topics, but it gives you no right to talk down to anyone.

    Hello to all!!

I have been following this thread since I found out about it a month ago. I am a 31 year old adjuster currently going the FCIP hiring process. I went to the information session in Knoxville in March. I completed my FIT test the first of December. I have not heard anything. If you have made it through all the steps are you guaranteed a postion?

Thanks for all the informative posts!!

Likewise, I have been following this forum for several weeks and thought I would join up. I was active duty Air Force for 7yrs and now I am in the ANG and live in the Knoxville area and went to the same information session you did back in March 09. I found out on Friday that I am medically cleared and all I have left is the PT test. From what I have been reading on this forum, as well as others, there is an indefinite amount of time between taking the PT test and getting the final offer...anywhere from a couple of months to longer.

I have learned a lot from reading everyone's postings and truly appreciate the info. Like everyone knows, the waiting is extremely hard, but I'm thankful I'm still in the hunt...regardless of how long it takes, I'll still be ready and willing to go anywhere

Hi, just curious on how they grade you on the interview. What are some of the reasons a candidate would fail the interview. Will they fail you if you take too long to reply; stutter or don't maintain eye contact? What if they don't like your physical appearance such as if you're skinny and short. Can they fail you because of that without actually telling you? I'm getting the impression from reading posts from forums about the high number of candidates failing the interview that the USM is very selective in choosing their candidates. I'm from the east coast and will be traveling to the west coast for an interview. I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my money and time for traveling for an interview that is impossible of passing because the USM is too picky and selective in choosing their candidates for the job.

The questions you ask will fail you at any reputable agency interview. Think about what your asking, these are basic interview skills like maintaining eye contact. Who cares if you are skinny and short, can you pass the FIT test? Now if I was on the panel interview and I saw someone that was 5'04 and 300lbs, I would certainly question their physical fitness routine. If you already have this attitude of I am not good enough or they are too picky then you are setting yourself up for failure. If you got selected for an interview then you meet their qualifications, be assertive but not cocky. Know about the job you are applying for, and why you want to work there. Just my two cents, and I am NOT a DUSM.

Answer truthfully and don't be cocky. Look the panel in the eye when answering questions. And most of all loose the mindset that your being judged.

    Local Testing?

I currently reside in Massachusetts. I recently traveled to attend the region 5 info session and interview in New Orleans. Are there any other part of the hiring process that still requires me to travel to? Can the remaining hiring process be now done locally in my state of Massachusetts?

cal1nu- You will only had to travel to New Orleans for the info session and the panel interview/writing sample. All the other steps of the process will be done close to home in Massachusetts (ie. medical, drug test, FIT test).

    Osuji,
Same here. Hoping that I get that call for April. That would certainly be nice. Been Pt'ing like crazy though. So far things are going well though. Good luck, hopefully we get there together!!
Cal1nu, Its possiible that you would end up doing your FIT, and other steps will be done through your local FO

The interview is the only thing that he will have to travel for. The Fit is done at your local USMS office by a certified Fit Coordinator. Your medical will be done at a local fed building medical center (if so eequipped, locally) or a local, contracted medical screening facility.
