    Rooster,
I'm a region 7 applicant. That's a crazy rumor..... Reduction of classes! Especially with there being so many applicants and other regions still going through the process.... Would they keep so many waiting like that?

PS welcome Eva01010... Where in region 7 are you?

    2 Quick notes:

1 - Ferd, you're absolutely correct as to the CITP portion. I am in a class now that only has 47 out of 48 seats filled. We are expecting to fill that seat (and any others that become vacant) once we hit our add-on.

2 - Rooster and D, I actually have heard that rumor too. For that matter, one or two of the instructors have as well. That doesn't mean it's written in stone, but I would call it more than a "crazy rumor" if people down here are talking about it, too.

To everyone who has recently passed their FIT: Just keep your heads up and keep training. You'll be down here soon enough. Good luck.

I just had my medical exam. It was fun! I have 20/13 vision, I never would have known that!
I am starting my background now....the process, for me, as been moving much more quickly than I had anticipated.

    Hey all,

I just heard from the local recruiter. It looks like nothing too definite has come down yet, but the overall budget has been cut (not hiring related). So, the issue is what will be cut / reduced to still support the overall budget. Someone made a good point on another forum that CITP will probably continue at the same pace, but BDUSM classes could potentially be reduced to help compensate for budget cuts.

So, that probably doesn't help anyone out, but it's something to chew on...good luck everyone!

I'm chewing but I don't think I'm liking the after taste that much. I wonder how this will effect those of us that are just waiting on the call. Also how will it effect those applicants that are still in the beginning or middle of the process. Guess we will have to wait and see.
Good luck to everyone and keep your heads up... We will get there soon enough.

Ok, first of all, if there have been cuts UNRELATED TO HIRING, why would you care?!?!?!?! You are looking to get hired, right? If the cuts are not related, how would it affect you?

Now, the comment of continueing CITP classes but cutting BDUSM classes is silly. The Service is not going to pay to have you go through CI school yet leave you in limbo with no BDUSM school. FYI, without both, you will not be working for us, so they will not pay for only 1... as you take a stroll to another agency.

There are plenty of other places that the budget can be cut. I have noot seen a copy yet, so I really can't speak to where the cuts have been made. I will say that either all hiring will be trimmed or none will... there is no such thing as trimming part of the training.

    Hey Switchback,

First - I am totally on board with you...my goal is to get hired, so I could care less how it happens

Seriously though, the scuttlebutt I've heard is that budget cuts (regardless of which portions of the budget are specifically cut) have prompted a decision to reduce the overall number of BDUSM classes for FY2010. If that means I wait until 2011, so be it. Also, you're right; it seems unlikely that a CITP slot would be paid for by the USMS with no anticipated BDUSM slot immediately following...

DUSMs from another forum (I think 2 different guys) have said the same thing, so I figured I'd try to confirm it with anyone else in the know. Appreciate the feedback, man.

    Hey everyone,
I haven’t posted here in a while but I wanted to pass on some info (just speculation) that I read on another forum. Some of you may have heard this already but, the amount of classes has been cut from 13 to 10 due to a 5% budget decrease next year. The question I had was why would that affect this year’s budget that has already been approved? Well, it’s because next year's overall budget won’t support the salaries of all the applicants they had planned on hiring this year (on top of current USDM's, and all other expenses). So basically, the money isn’t in the budget to pay all the new hire's next year.

Again, it was just speculation but if there are going be cancelled classes, that would be a logical reason.

    rlc427,

We must have been looking at the same forum...that's what I read too. Let's just keep hoping for a call soon!

Let me put some perspective on this discussion. Some of you are reading, from another Forum, that there are classes cut, numbers, percentages etc etc etc. You come back here, and post what you read. They come here, read your words and spread them even further out afield. Some of you are taking those posts as gospel.

Granted, most of you are not in Fed LE yet, or even in Fed Gov't. So, let me give you a critical piece of insight as to "facts" as they pertain to the Fed. Gov't.

Until it is written in stone, it is nothing more than mere speculation.

    Which leads to rule #2

Even if it is written, it is not fact until it has occurred.

Pretty much anything on this, or any other forum board is not only speculation, but third, fourth and fifth hand speculation by now.

the facts of whether they make a class cut, and if so, how many, won't be known until February, 2011. That is the last gradutation date of the last scheduled class of this training iteration. Until that time, nothing is cast in stone as to cuts, or no cuts.

    Ferd,
I was pretty clear to note multiple times that the info was passed along from another forum and was all speculation. I didn’t take it as gospel, and hopefully neither did the other potential deputy marshals. Being former USBP, I know that nothing coming down the pipe is set in stone, but more times than not there are a few grains of truth in what you hear. I was just passing on *speculative* info to those interested. Most in the process would prefer that over nothing at all.

To echo the above sentiments, I too have suffered the slings and arrows of the government for about 8 years.

Serisouly, though, I was hoping to see if any DUSMs on this forum (or any, for that matter) could provide any advice / info for us. Good point, though, that I tend to forget - patience is a virtue! I'd do well to remember that, that's for sure!

Appreciate the advice, Ferd, and once again, good luck to everyone in the pipeline!

    Hello group,
How's things going? I noticed on another thread someone from region 1 got the call for SNY for the upcoming February 17th class. I was wondering if anyone here has heard anything as of yet? Its probably still early but just asking.
Aside from that hope everyone is staying in shape and trying not to go crazy as we sit here waiting.
