Well the background investigation is done. Now its back to waiting to hear something. Most of the people that the investigator spoke with thought I was kidding when I told them he might call or visit and ask questions about me. Was a concerned about my Army buddies a bit but I made it through. Now I'm wondering how long it will be before I hear anything since all I have left is the FIT test. Other than that I'm still training.

hey darcknight. Seems were pretty much on the same timeline. Im just waiting on the FIT also, region 7. I havnt heard hide nor hair though from the BI since I met with her. I assume thats good? Pls do post if/when they schedule u for the Fit. Im ready to knock that out.

1.5 mile run
What is the minimum time for a 35 year old to pass the 1.5 mile run. The chart says 12:51. But above the minimum time is the fair time and it has a range of 12:21 to 13:36. So if I ran 1.5 miles in 13:36 does this mean I passed within the fair time because I ran above the minimum standard?

You have to run it in 12:51. That is the minimum standard. However, if you make down to the academy I wouldn't recommend doing just the minimum unless you want to put yourself on the radar for the instructors.

From reading all the post here regarding the interview for the USMS position. Looks like there are more people passing the interview and getting a T.O. than not passing it. Are there anyone who didn't pass the interview? Can you please provide insight on why you didn't pass? Do they notify you by mail if you didn't pass and tell you the reason(s) why? Please PM me if you prefer.
Also do they need to have an actual reason to fail you on the interview? Can they just fail you because they have hired enough people or no reason at all?Last edited by cal1nu; 10-12-09 at 08:57 PM.

I would say that if you don't pass the interview portion then you do not move onto the written part of the phase. At least that is how it was broken down to me and several other applicants the day we had our interviews. And I clearly remember the Marshals who interviewed me after that I had passed and moved onto the next phase.

Those that actually get to the written portion (passing the oral interview) are only a fraction of those actually showing up for interviews. There are far more going home as failures than those passing.

failed interview
I thought everything went well but I wasnt invited to take the written portion so I guess I failed. I dont know why they would flat out tell me there is no such thing as a writing portion. Nothing I can do I guess. FML

Chief, I've got military (active and reserve), prior law enforcement (not military) and college experience. I don't know about the background of most of the people in my session. But I know that a few of them are law enforcement and two are military. A few had college and some didn't. Were all from different backgrounds.
