Dusm07, thanks for the advice and heads up. Were you part of the FCIP applicants back in 2007? If so, what was the time frame for you to go to FLETC?

There is a very active thread on a different forum and it seems that most people, in Region 2, that have been given a Conditional Offer have processed through the entire medical. This includes both visits to the doctor in addition to the phone call for the drug test. I believe most have just begun their backgrounds this past week and we are only waiting for the FIT. It seems that things are moving extremely fast for the Federal Government.

How did you know when your background was adjudicated? It seems that most OPM investigators are saying that they only have a few weeks to complete the BI, but no one seems clear on how long the adjudication process should take. Did the Marshals Service notify you once it was completed or did you have to ask them? Thanks in advance.

No, I applied under operation shinning star when I was getting out of the service. I came on with the USMS in late 2007 (after an almost 4yr wait & MANY phone calls to DC/HR).

Hiring for the USMS in 2010 is going to be busy. Google FY 2010 USMS and you will find the bugdet and request for over 500 deputies. Maybe that is why they are moving so fast on the B.I. and hiring.

I kept calling DC/HR to find out if my B.I. had cleared until finally they said yes & that I was now waiting to re-do my medical b/c it expired.

For my hiring process I applied Oct03. Test Jan04. Interview Sept04. Med Oct04. FIT Feb05. BI Jul06. 2nd Med Nov06. 2nd FIT Aug07 and very shortly there after they made me a final offer. There is NOTHING consistant with how they hire deputies. Others in my academy had longer waits while some had shorter. Just hang in there- as long as you do not get a letter/call that says you are disqulified you still have a dog in the fight.

Make sure you keep working out. The C.I. program is ran by DHS and the PT is a joke. MAKE SURE YOU ALL WORK OUT ON YOUR OWN TIME! The USMS really dosen't mess with you during those 12 weeks. But the day you grad...... you are fair game. Ross, Curry, & Santiago are going to take it to your asses in PT and you better be ready for it. All the USMS PT have a theme like Countdowns, Hot Lead Run, Tangerine Room, All About Me Run, The Beach, The Rope Run The Marshal Mile (which is actually 10 or more miles) & many others. You'll have plenty of time to learn all about them!

Is it true that only regions 5 and 8 are left to open as it relates to recruiting? Where are regions 5 and 8?

I believe some searches on here will yield an abundance of threads addressing this.

    Drug Re-Test

Quick question: I took and passed a drug test in 2/09 before my background was conducted. Everything has cleared except for my FIT, which I think will be next week. This morning, I was contacted and asked to do another drug test. Not a problem, as I am sure that I am clean, but I was curious if anyone out there was tested multiple times. Just checking. Thanks for the help.

They expire... just like fit tests. There is a 6 month life-expectancy.

    new to the scene

Hello to all. I have been quietly watching this post regularly and I'm very thankful for the information that is posted here (many thanks to Switchbacks constant post and guidance). I'm currently in the process of having my BI done even as we speak. I started the FCIP USMS process back in March for region 7, I'm still training for the FIT test and so far everything has gone well. I'm just curious as to is this the norm for the length of the process. I'm prior military so I'm very comfortable with the hurry up and wait game.... Just gives me time to better prepare myself. So if anyone out there can provide some insight I would greatly appreciate it. Switch I think I read every post you put up here but I thank every one who contributed to this post as many of us are still waiting for that life changing call.

    Thank You,
    DarcKnight
