You can burn body fat by simply controlling your individual carb intake levels. Body fat is protected by the breakdown of glycogen (without getting into a deep discussion lets call most glycogen carbs)...cut them out to about 20-30 grams a day and watch the body fat disappear. But be warned, it's a LOT more difficult than it sounds to cut them down to 30 grams per day.

I do appreciate the info but that really was not the question. I know how to lose weight but was curious what would happen if you just missed the cut. Also how they would be testing body fat. Thank you for the responses.

You won't fail out for body fat. They do the pinch method. Basically they use it to determine if you are really working out and getting in better shape from the beginning to the end. If you have a high body fat they will most likely monitor what you're eating while you're here to make sure you're shaping up. And if you do have a lot of body fat, they won't be afraid to point it out.

    LOL
And where do you get your info?

Probably, as much as anything else, all the possible litigation may contribute to why it is not used. Neither it, nor the flexibility , really matter.

You are a fool to think that they use it to gauge your progress. If anything, it shows "how great" all the instructors are at their job. If you are so luck y to make it to the academy, they will do a death-grip on you for the pinch-test when you show up and then they barely touch you when you are leaving. They think it looks really good on them when you walk out with 10% less bodyfat.

There is also (essentially) no oversight when the fatties eat their 3 desserts (THAT'S WHY THEY ARE FAT). If you are lagging behind, you may get chastised during fit... hell, you may even get a little extra drill time. However, usually, it was those of us in good shape who got to "rest" in the up push-up position as we waited for the out-of-shape classmates.

The bottom line at the academy, however, is if you pass your PEB, it really doesn't matter what you eat and how close you come to failing. It's a sad truth for an antiquated physical battery.

So, what is everyone doing fitness wise?

Me, I've been running 2.9-3 Miles 4-5 times a week. After I run, I usually do pushups and situps. Either 1 minute of situps, 3 sets, or 3 sets of 40 pushups, making sure each one is perfect. Some times I alternate, 40 situps/40 pushups, 20 situps/20 pushups, and keep on going until I can barely do any at all.

I try to do it all as fast as I can with no breaks, so this usually takes less then 30 minutes, about 22 for the run, and then 5-8 for the pushups and situps.

I move apartment complexes at the end of the month, and they have a nice gym in the new one, so I'm going to try some crossfit training, and doing some more lifting.

I know this isn't the fitness section, but I was just wondering what everyone else is doing.

I'm not in the process for USMS but just wanted to add my two cents...Cross fit training is a very good way to get in shape fast. I've been doing it for about 3 months and have seen some good gains in strenth and edurance.

Yeah, I have only heard great things about it, I just don't have the weights to do some of the workouts. Hopefully I'll be starting soon, one of the people I'll be moving in with is in the National Guard, he has done Crossfit before, and says he would do it with me.

Hey guys, I am in the process for Region 2 and have received my Tentative Offer. I have filled out my BI and sent it in. I did not receive anything for the Medical and saw on another forum that there was a guy in the same position as me. He received the number for the Med Exam from another candidate and said he got his situation straightened out. I talked to the lady dealing with my BI and she told me she strictly deals with the BI and nothing else. I don't want to miss out on the Medical just because an email didn't make it to me. Is anyone else in this position? Any idea's as to who I would contact about my processing? Thanks.

ROVIC86, that is weird because if you received a conditional offer of employment, the letter should be broken down in 2 parts with instructions
    (PART ONE - BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION)
(PART TWO- MEDICAL EXAM) In this part they give you the phone # for the employee medical dept to set up your medical within 30 days from the receipt of your letter.....

Yea I figured something was different with mine. I went back and searched through the email I received that informed me of my tentative selection. The title is FW: Deputy U.S. Marshals Position and it is from the lady dealing with my BI. The email only spoke of my selection and instructions for filling out my SF86 on E-Qip. I am wondering if my actual Conditional Offer was lost in cyberspace and I was informed by this lady by the grace of god. Either way, I need to get going with my Medical before my 30 days are up. As stated before, there was another person in my situation that got the number, called, and said they straightened it out.

    ROVIC86:

I was in the same boat as you and the other applicant you have reffered to from the other forum (I read his post as well.) I received my BI info, but no medical. I sent an email to one of the names listed on the BI info voicing my concern and received a phone call. I was told that the BI info and Medical info should have come all in one package deal, and it appears some applicants didn't get both parts, for whatever reason.

After speaking with the individual I emailed, I was sent all applicable Medical paperwork that I was supposed to receive. I was told I would be marked as making arrangements within the 30 day grace period alloted for the exam. I phoned the FOH office assigned to me, scheduled my appointment, and all is well.

I would suggest taking a look at your BI info you recieved and shooting an email to someone listed on that page and let them know your circumstance. I would hate to see anyone miss the boat due to a cyberspace glitch. Good Luck, and hope this helps!

I'm in the same situation. I have received nothing about the Medical, and I sent in the Background over a week ago.

If I need to call a number, or someone figures this out, please PM me on here.

    Thanks! I appreciate it.

I got everything settled in a very timely manner. I was told that there are quite a few people who did not receive their Medical information but should have. I do not know if it was not sent or there are so many candidates that some got lost in the shuffle. If you got your Offer and BI information, you should have got your Medical info also. I emailed both people that were named at the bottom of my BI email and received a very quick response.
