Thanks Switchback. I guess I'll not bother applying as there's no way I can move my family that far north.
Any idea when Region 2 might open up again? 2012?

Just sent my email in for the Philly registration....the wait begins
Does anyone know when you are supposed to use 7 years or ten years on the background checks? What is the difference? Thanks for your help in advance.
A Secret clearance goes back 7 and the Top Secret goes back 10. I am not sure, but I think they are doing Secrets for new hires. To be safe, you coulde just do it back to 10.![]()

As I was checking the Marshals Service site again, I got stuck on this
Career ladder is to the GS-1811-11 grade level. So GS11? I thought it was GS12?
Also, is it still 5 years to GS11 if you start at GS5?
GS12 is still the journeyman, with the ever-present talk of it going to 13 soon. That was never an issue with me, as there are other perks that people quickly forget about.
I am not sure what the time-frame is these days. I was hired straight to 1811 a long time ago and I have not been able to keep track with it lately... and HR is not my thing.

I thought it was 12 but the site said 11 which threw me off. I guess i'll find out at the meeting if I get a slot.
Well, still no word from the Philly office yet. Doesn't look too good:mad:
Maybe it just takes a little while for Philadelphia HR to respond.
Good evening everyone,
My name is Aaron, and I just got my confirmation back for the Info Session in Philly. The Recruiter called me on Monday and then sent me the information,
and I immediately got my email around to send Wednesday morning.
I got my confirmation at 3 pm on Wednesday. And I am really excited to start the process.
As for me, I spent 7 years as an Intel Marine, and also spent a few years on the Ft. Meade QRF. I am currently with the BoP at FCI Allenwood, but (obviously) looking to move.
I actually became interested in the Marshals when I was at FLETC the first time, and realized I must have gotten on the wrong boat.
Here's to hoping that the process goes well for all of us.

Does anyone know if you fail the body fat by 1-2% are you done. Finished and out the door. How do they test it exactly? If no room for error I'm done.
Hope not cause I'm good on everything else.
I thought they didn't do body fat until the Fit test? Or is that included in the medical?
Either way, I've always heard the best way to lose body fat (besides eating right of course) is to do long periods of exercise. Someone told me the body doesn't begin to eat body fat until 45 minutes of continuous activity. It doesn't have to be strenuous, but if you have to time to jog or walk a couple hours a day, that helps. Of course, finding 2 hours a day isn't the easiest.
Best of luck! And sorry that I do not have an answer to your question.
