One reason being that so many of the smaller sized agencies, like SSA, and the other OIGs is that they have so many agents from the big three and four letter agencies, looking for a better better quality of life.
(Example being, I just spent the night trying to sleep in my car last night, about the hundredth or so time, if I calculate correctly, and haven't actually been in the same place as my wife and kids for two days, now. I ran three cell phone batteries down yesterday and last night trying to coordinate agents working on the same case four states over and have a crick in my neck from that.
I'm drinking coffee trying to overcome about six hours sleep total in two nights, because I've got to get back in and start it up again. And, I haven't even left town.)
And, I'm 51 and a supervisor, not a case agent, any more (but there are some things you just can't ask people to do if you're not willing to be out there with them doing it). Somehow, I'm betting some of the OIG guys, don't do this so often. And, when it comes to family life, that's a good thing.
Just a rant as I sit here, completely exhausted, and not believing I'm having to go back in to work and wondering if the weekend is shot, too.
