What exactly is a Customs seal? I haven't heard anything about them and I work as a CBPO. It could be, and most likely is, just a different term for something.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
Translation for the intellectually challenged: If the government screws the people too much, it is the right and duty of the people to revolt and form a new government.
I had a short internship at Miami International Airport in high school. The Custom seal indicates that a airport or airline employee is allowed to be around the passenger terminal and passenger aircraft. I am guessing a clear criminal history no major traffic violations etc.. Is what makes you able to have the sticker.
I have not been around airport employers for two years now so things might have changed.
Ya, it has nothing to do with the airlines. Any employee that is going to have access to the international area in the restricted places that has Customs, INS or Agriculture have to have a seperate seal allowing them access to that area. Those areas are controlled by CBP and requires another DHS background check different than the one for the rest of the airport. If you are never in that area then you won't need it. You'd have to check with your airport for guidelines as they are all a little different.

Is she talking about the SIDA bade witha Customs endorsement?
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.
Chewy:
This is what I'm talking about. The Customs Seal goes on our SIDA badge. Before only those who were required to have seals were the employees who worked the inbound int'l arrivals. Once the airplane had been cleared & went to domestic outbound anyone could work it.
Now we are been told it is a Customs requirment that all employees at my airline at my airport obtain a seal even if they never work these int'l flights. The question I was asking (maybe I didn't do a good job) is this really a US Customs requirement that we all have these seals or is the company lying to us meaning they are the ones requiring it ?
Like I said in the first post I got mine not a problem, but if the company is not telling the truth I don't like it. So all help is more than appericated on whatever you folks can find out.

I don't know why the would require it for everyone if you weren't ever dealing with the international area. My only idea would be that they wanted all employee's to have it so if someone had to be used over there in an emergency or something they wouldn't have to deal with that issue. Otherwise it doesn't make sense... but then again I've worked for Customs for 11years and very rarely does anything they do make sense!

That's not really true, The Customs hall and the international freight areas are the Customs area. They are seperated from the other areas of the airport and domestic flights/freight by fences, walls etc. Customs areas are well defined and controlled and once a passenger leaves our area they are no longer under the authority of CBP unless we keep eyes on them for Nexus purposes. Customs has no authority in a domestic terminal unless it has outbound international flights but the inbound international flights are seperate from the domestic flights. If your at a small airport where they are all mixed together I can see requiring the seal but if not (and to my knowledge all airports have a seperate area for international) it's just our management trying to push everyone around again... par for the course.
