    Oig/fletc bound

I was recently picked-up as an 1811 by an OIG after the last 8 years with DEA/Diversion. Prior to DEA, I spent 5 years with then INS/Deportation. I have not been to FLETC since the mid 1990's, and I was wondering what to expect in CITP. How different is firearms qualification from the INS PPC?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Wow, I bet FLETC has changed quite a bit since the 90's. As far as CITP goes (went through it last year), it's kind of comparable to a college atmosphere. I came from a local PD and our firearms qualification course was about 10 times harder than CITP, although I believe firearms is what trips up people.

The "new" thing about CITP is that they have combined defensive tactics and physical training into one program called "ORT." They do things that simulate the real world (practicing some defensive tactic drills after and during a long run). While it's not butt breaking hard, it's definately not something you use to get yourself in shape. If you go in out of shape, you'll be in for a long road ahead.

I wouldn't sweat CITP, although the FLETC facilities are top notch, my local academy was way harder.

    Good luck!

It would be nice if someone had taken the time to put forth a comprehensive list of information about FLETC... if only that were so!

Also, since you're hired by an IG, you may want to send a PM to Joeyd6 on this site. We have several 1811's on this forum, but he is the only one I can think of that works for an OIG agency, and can give you feedback on the IG add-on academy following CITP at FLETC.

Not sure about all OIG positions but when I was down there I met a guy who was hired by OIG and only had to go through CITP. His "add on" training was going to be down at his office.

IF that's so, you'll luck out.

Don't forget to check out the G for lunch. They serve some pretty decent sack lunches without the LONG lines at the chow hall.

That's the deal with this OIG, they use to send their Special Agents to the 3 week IG Academy sometime after CITP. Now they conduct their own SABT.

I have heard about the long lines in chow line. I will definitely take your advice and check-out the G for lunch.

    Thanks!

Heck, it's probably the same chicken. I don't know how many times I saw yesterday's entree being served as something else the following day. If it wasn't gone by the second or third day it became soup.

Ain't nothing "good" about chicken so under cooked it's still pink and dripping with blood. ;)

Stick to the sandwich line (the line in between the salad line and the hot bar line. At least the food is cooked. Also, as said above, the G-bar is good for a bagged lunch, but only M - F.
