questions about gov't jobs. need some help

hey guys, as i mentioned before i'm going to apply with the Secret Service UD. however, after looking at some of your other posts in here, there are obviously a lot of other possibilties.
does anyone know anything about the UD division (good and bad)? also what other gov't law enforcement jobs keep someone based in washington? just looking for ideas and opinions since i'm new to this. thanks in advance...

There's a ton of jobs in DC. Go to usajobs and search either by the DC area, or by series 0083 which is your uniformed Police Officers.

I've know a half dozen SS UD' pretty well. Three of them came over to my agency (for some reason it's a lot easier for UD's to transfer over as an 1811 at other agencies than it is for them to transfer over to the USSS as an 1811).

I haven't heard any complaints from them that aren't just generally related to having a job.

0083 is the job series code for uniformed police. Just like 1811 is the code for criminal investigators/special agents, 0905 is the code for attorneys, etc.

Acronyms, including series codes, are covered ad nauseum in the sticky at the top of the federal forum.

On usajobs if you go to "search jobs" and select "series search" from the top, you can look for only that specific type of position, but in every agency. You can also narrow it down by location.
You've had your whole life to prepare for this moment. Why aren't you ready?

There's the Capitol Police and the U.S. Parks Police. There's also some U.S. Parks Service Ranger positions. The DC Metro Police are quazi-federal. I don't know if they are on the same retirment system or if they can lateral.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Translation for the intellectually challenged: If the government screws the people too much, it is the right and duty of the people to revolt and form a new government.
