When I talked to the recuriter here a few months ago, she told me that around 85% of new Agents were getting one of their first three choices in locality. That said, you probably WILL be transfered to another region than your home city. You also won't find out where your initial duty station will be until your 10th week at the academy (you don't even fill out the paperwork as to your locality preferences until you get to Q). The reason they transfer Agents from their home city (usually) is for safety. If you end up doing an undercover assignment, you don't want to end up running into someone you went to school with who knows about you and your family. Good luck; hope this helps.
