I'm a college student and I think that I want to eventually work as a SA. Does anyone know if having tattoos is an issue? A couple of times my friends and I have gone down to tattoo shops and I was the only one who didn't get one because I wasn't sure if it would hurt my chances.

More and more depts are cracking down on visible tattoos. Some departments (Tn Highway Patrol i believe) disqualify applicants if a tattoo extends beyond the end of your short sleeve shirt. Other departments mandate that you wear long sleeve shirts year round, which you can imagine is quite uncomfortable in the south. I dont know of any federal agency that has a restriction on visible tattoos, unless of course they are derogatory in nature. I have good friends with several federal agencies with visible "sleeves" in both uniform and plainclothes assignments. Feds seems to be less stringent in their approach to tattoos. Just use your head and dont get them where a short sleeve shirt and pants cant conceal it and you will be fine.
