I know you have to work your way from the bottom up in the law-enforcement agencies. After your 2 year contract is up, what do you plan on doing, if you dont mind me asking? Will it be easier for you to apply for a better position in the FBI since you already sort of work there? I know you said look at the U.S. Park Police, USSS UD, US Capital Police, Pentagon Force Protection or Federal Protective Services. Based on your experience, are there any specific job related fields for the FBI that you recommend to work for instead of the FBI police?

    Thank you for your help,

FPS 207 hit it right on the head, figure out what you want to do and do it. If you want to be a criminal investigator then apply to as many positions as you can, get your experience and try to get to where you want to go. The only advantage I have seen to being in federal law enforcement is that if you are a FLETC graduate and the second agency you are looking to go to uses FLETC as well you won't have to go to the academy. Other than that you have to apply, test, interview just like everyone else, many times even your security clearance does not transfer. The only area in the FBI I would consider up and coming are the intelligence analyst positions.
The older you get, the better you get, unless of course you are a bananna.
