If you haven't already, be sure you search for information in the Federal section on 911jobforums.com, as well as ask this question in a post there. I'm not aware of any members here who work for DOE (much less the position you're referring to), but I do think there are a few on that site.

does it cost money to register
It does, but there's a wealth of information there already that doesn't cost anything to search and read. If you want to post a question, you got to pay for membership, but it may be worth it if you get additional feedback not already archived in old threads. A LOT of federal LEOs post on that site.

911 jobs forum is completely devoted to getting hired as a local, state, or federal LEO (or firefighter).
They are kind of strict, and it's not really a fun site, but there is a ton of pretty decent information on there. I've posted there a few times with hiring advice about my agency. I got on before they charged to get on. But, if I was looking for a LEO job, especially federal, I don't know anywhere else you could get so much inside info in one place.

You don't need to register to search the archives (and even if you pay they'll most likely tell you to search first).
I can't post links, but if you go to Google and type in "site:911jobforums.com nuclear courier" you'll see some results (or change the keywords to whatever you like).

911JobForums has some info, but the moderators are absolute asshats:mad: and will lock a thread in a second, just because they feel like it.
You can't ask a question that has been asked before, even one from several years ago. If you do, you'll get some smartass comment like this:
"This has been covered ad nauseum recently, do a search...thread locked"
Or the moderator doesn't like where the thread is going, because it's about something negative, such as "paybanding"...they'll just lock the thread for no reason, (even when the thread is civil and informational)
If you approach a moderator about why they locked a thread, they will lock you out without explanation.
Yeah, I'm talking about you KRELLUM and DMCLARK..
Okay, let's act like adults here and lay off the name calling. If you have reasonable frustrations about another site, that's one thing, but let's not resort to bashing another site or calling out individuals there. If you have beef with someone on that site, take it up with them, don't use RP to be your public sounding board. That's tacky and unprofessional.
Thanks.![]()

A couple of things I have heard.
Plan on being gone a lot from home.
And dont plan on setting any speed records on the interstate.
Traveling speed is usually 55 mph in a 70 zone.
You spend a lot of nights on secure military bases.
And every kook in the world is taking your picture as
you roll down the interstate.
And the motor carrier guys tend to grimace and wave you right
through at the scale house.:rolleyes::eek::D
Dont ask how I know about this one....................
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL
I have applied and made to the next step, this will be my third time in the same spot. I have a police, correction, and a armored car background,so I feel that im well qualifed. Seem like the only individuals they hire is ex-military,or they biases towards others that applied?
well good luck, how many years have you been driving a combination/semi-truck?

I also decided to apply for this position. Got the followup email as well. It seems like they prefer ex military special forces types, but we'll see. This is the first time I applied, so I wont be all that disappointed if im not selected. Amarillo doesnt necessarily appeal to me either, I was hoping for the Tn duty station.
