Talked with recruiter. She says the application is still missing but there are several investigators out. She sent me the new application to get started just in case. Problem is this has added 2 month to the process. I turn 36 in 3 months. I doubt I will make it through the process before that date. (As you may know you must be appointed before your 36th bithday)

    BFidnick,
I thought it was you had to be appointed by your 37th birthday.

Nevermind the average of five months their website says. Does anyone know how long this application process REALLY takes?

With the govt., as long as they want it to.

They'll keep you waiting until the second coming of Christ, and then out of the blue you get something in the mail, along with a drug test kit, telling you that you have two weeks to schedule a physical, like I did for the Border Patrol. Then I was cut because I had bad eyesight. Oh well..........

You all are right concerning age restrictions. I am glad to hear that I have 1 year and 2.5 month to get through the system.

Heads up fellas, got some good news & bad news. Heard directly from the "horse's mouth" itself (the Recruiting Division) that they DO NOT plan on hiring as many officers as they did last fiscal year (360, I believe). There is however a push right now to get around 60 before summer. Good luck to everyone.

You may want to look at other departments In speaking with an attorney recently about employment problems with the Capitol Police he said that USCP and USSS UD are the two worst agencies toward their employees. You have very few rights, protections or recourses believe me.

Concerning the above.... Look for what you want but from experience the USCP has a great reputation for (especially recently) for how they treat the workforce. There is good and bad like anywhere else but if it was really bad why would so many people apply, and thus slow the process down.

The application process is long, it does have huge down time, then a rush, then more downtime. At the end though you have a great opportunity, and not a bad paycheck.

Well I am speaking from personal experience The pay is great, but you have few Rights Just look at the Congressional Accountability Act or the Federal Tort Claims Act to see what protections you have. FEW. They are recruiting heavily because they are pushing for more people, and a lot of people are bailing out because they don't like being high paid guards.

no federal worker has the same rights as their 'civie' counterparts. Thats basically because its illegal to sue the 'goverment'

Is the uniformed officer division position for the secret service currently speeding their process faster than the U.S. capitol police. Is the secret service more selective.

in all honestly thats really all you need around the actual whitehouse hehe. I always had fun waving to their snipers on the whitehouse's roof whenever I'm in DC and get a chance to visit it.

Has anyone recently heard from the agency whether they are going to be processed furthur.

I spoke to someone from the backgrounds department, The person I spoke to told me that not everyone who turns in an application booklet will get a call for their personal interview. Last year a person would get a call for a personal interview 2 weeks after they turn in their application booklet.

I think most of us who are processing with this agency might need to look elsewhere because they seem they might just not hire anyone for a while.
