Has anyone else applied to the FBI Investigative Specialist position?
If so, send me a PM.
Good luck to all.

I applied under the 05-2008-0049 announcement that closes tomorrow.
I applied on FBIJOBS and Directly to my local field office. I heard they are "hiring like wildfire" not that, that means anything in the federal government.![]()

Glockpacker, where did you hear they were "hiring like wildfire"? Someone from the bureau? I sure hope its true!!!

I've always heard that they are aggressively hiring. I'm currently a full time surveillance investigator for a private company. I've been doing this for about 1 1/2 years and hope this will make me an attractive candidate.
Besides for surveillance do Investigative Specialist get to do any other work in investigations? Interviews, undercover work, ect.?
No other work, surveillance only (listed on long IS threads on other LEO sites).
gt2008 - I received a call from a supervisor at my local field office who was given my information by a friend of a friend. She said that they were hiring like wildfire and even cleared to do direct hires. I haven't heard anything else since I applied so we'll see what it all amounts toI'll let you know if I hear anything else.

glock, wow, you've already been contacted, amazing! what exactly is a "direct hire"? i'm fairly new to the federal world. did you happen to hear how fast/slow applications are going to be processed? i'm hoping to leave FL for NYC.

I didn't see anywhere that required your college transcripts to be sent in with the application.
Did everyone send their transcripts in? All I saw that was required was your ltest performance eval (if you were a current federal employee) and your SF-50 (that might not be correct).
gt2008 - I was contacted before I applied to the anouncement on FBIJOBS and told to send them my resume directly. I don't know exactly what a "direct hire" is but I would assume that means this field office has a critical shortage and has been cleared to hire people into this office. (other offices might have that as well - I am just speculating). It was after I sent them my resume that I found the posting on FBIJOBS and applied there as well.
I did send in my college transcripts via the fax processing system. I thought they might have been required (or I might have dreamed it).

PS - I haven't heard anything since I applied online. "Wild Fire" for the government means you will hear something in 4 months instead of in 8 months.![]()

A direct hire is where the local office hires you. With the background and everything else is done while you work. But, you must be skilled in areas they are seeking, whatever that maybe.

Since I do surveillance full time it would be nice if I got in like that, but it doesn't look like that will happen.
I still haven't seen any movement on my app, but I'm just being impatient.
Nothing here either - based on my other government apps, we won't hear anything for several months. "tic toc"
