I started the process in Nov. 2005. got caught up in the hiring freeze and over the past year have finished all the steps. my background was completed toward the end of the summer and since then I have been waiting to hear.

I just put my packet in the mail today. I contacted my recruiter, left a message for them, and received the packet about a week later. I never personally spoke with anyone, nor was I screened.

From ya'll's experience, how big of an asset is being an attorney, particularly one with prosecutorial experience? I know that a background in finance is huge right now, as are former/current LEO's, but what about lawyers?

Also, any idea what life is like for an attorney once in the Administration?

I know of a few attorneys working as DEA agents, at least one of whom is a former prosecutor.

Once hired, it's just like anyone else working there I would imagine. It should come in handy writing affidavits, though.

Thanks Group. I'm really excited about the prospect, and have been surfing this forum trying to learn as much as I possibly can.

I look forward to the challenges of the hiring process, the Academy, and the job itself.
