Sorry to beat a dead horse, I know there have been a lot of questions on this forum regarding asthma, and I've looked through a lot of them and have been unable to find one particular answer: Is the use of advair to control exercise induced asthma an automatic DQ for FLEOs, particularly National Park Service LE rangers, or other land management LEs?
I'm not currently on advair, but recently I've begun working out in anticipation of attending the seasonal LE academy, and I was surprised to find my asthma bothering me after running more than a mile. My asthma hasn't bothered me in 4 years, and I thought I was done with it, I don't even have prescription meds for it anymore.
I found in a couple of threads, including one here on the federal side, where it is stated that asthma is not a DQ if it is properly controlled on medication. I've heard good things about advair, but was wondering if those who are on these controller medications would mind disclosing what has worked for them and avoided DQ.
I've done four years of non-LE ranger work in the NPS and have worked side by side with LEs doing pursuit, rescue and ems response, and I am really looking forward to switching to the enforcement side.
Thanks for your time, and I apologize if this topic has been previously addressed.
