for all BP and CBPO i found some info about the proposed House Resolution about getting us paid GS-13 salary. The rumor that we will be upgraded to GS-12 is another bill but this one (HR 264) is more promising. Now which would you rather choose the GS-12 or the GS-13 pay increase as outlined here.
SEC. 645. INCREASE UNITED STATES BORDER PATROL AGENT AND INSPECTOR PAY.
(a) In General- Effective as of the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning on or after the date of the enactment of this Act, the rate of basic pay for all employees of the Department of Homeland Security described in subsection (b) shall be increased in accordance with subsection (c).
(b) Employees Described- This section applies to any individual who, as of the date of the enactment of this Act--
(1) is a journey level United States Border Patrol agent or immigration, customs, or agriculture inspector within the Department of Homeland Security, whose primary duties consist of enforcing the immigration, customs, or agriculture laws of the United States;
(2) has completed at least one year of service as a United States Border Patrol agent or inspector (whether as an employee of the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, or both agencies combined); and
(3) is receiving an annual rate of basic pay for positions at GS-11 of the General Schedule under section 5332 of title 5, United States Code.
(c) Increase Described- The basic rate of pay for the employees described in this subsection shall increase from the annual rate of basic pay for positions at GS-11 of the General Schedule to the annaul rate of basic pay for positions at GS-13 of such schedule.
Also there is another sub section of this House Resolution that i really like.
SEC. 643. ESTABLISHMENT OF CAREER PATHS TO CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR POSITIONS.
The Secretary of Homeland Security shall ensure that all persons selected for criminal investigator positions within the Department of Homeland Security possess a minimum of 3 years of field experience within the Department or its predecessor agencies in the specialized area of law that will be investigated.
I figured it was all a rumor. It was too good to be true. Plus the amount of money the Govt has to spend to enforce the bill. Well i hope this one goes through. HR264.
I think it will happen. When? I don't know but sooner or later they are going to make the USBP & CBPO's Journeyman GS-12's or GS-13's.

This question is directed mainly to current or former MIA's on this forum. I'm a BPA in Arizona with hopes of getting an MIA or 1811 position in the future. I'm currently working towards my OUPV. What do you guys believe that it will be a more valuable qualification for the MIA job finishing my bachelor's degree in CJ or joining the USCG auxiliary?
Also did the uniform for MIA's change from the white polo shirt to a military style top in tan color?

I would have to say the USCG auxiliary. I have 2 guys here at my station that really want a MIA position and they went and got their 6-pack captians license. From what I understand that's the best thing you can do so if you have a place where you can get your 6-pack it would be worth looking into. Of course it's going to cost you around $800 or so.
These guys here said they didn't care they paid it anyway. I know they have openings for people who already have their captians license.
Couldn't tell you about the uniforms
