Physical Security Specialist (LESO) Or FPS Police Officer?

This looks and sounds like your traditional Federal Protective Service 0083 position ….. But these are 0080 positions. Anyone know what this is all about? Marked cruisers? Arrest authority? Contract Guards?

I'm pretty sure they have direct oversight of FPS contract security guards who work in federal buildings.

It is a LE position, with the same authority as any other 0083 within FPS. They have marked/unlarked G-cars, but I'm not sure how much, if any, law enforcement they're going to be involved in.

A bunch of these positions just opened up in my home state of Maine. If I hadn't just signed on here, I'd be the first to apply.

These are police officers that go to the Physcial security academy to become inspectors. The grade goes up to a GS 12. Marked patrol vehicles, arrest authority is Title 40 1315. LESO's oversee the contract guards and have to handle more administrative duties than traditional law enforcement. However, when they aren't busy, they get to play police.

Im a current ICE employee who decided to throw his hat into the ring under the last public announcement that closed on March 14. According to the announcement, interviews will be given in select cities March 31-April 11. Please keep us posted if you get any correspondence in reference to these positions.
