The CBPO announcement on USAJOBS has been modified yet again. This is the third time the wording has been changed. When the announcement first opened it read:
"1) Please note that the CBP Officer position may have law enforcement retirement coverage effective July 6th, 2008. As a result of this provision, the CBP Officer position may be subject to a maximum entry age of 37. Based on these changes, in order for an individual to be selected for a CBP Officer on and after July 6th, 2008, they would need to have taken the CBP Officer test and been referred for a CBP Officer position prior to achieving the maximum entry age for CBP Officers."
It was then changed to read:
"1) Please note that the CBP Officer position will have law enforcement retirement coverage effective July 6th, 2008. As a result of this provision, the CBP Officer position will be subject to a maximum entry age of 37. Based on these changes, in order for an individual to be selected for a CBP Officer on and after July 6th, 2008, they would need to have taken the CBP Officer test and been referred for a CBP Officer position prior to achieving the maximum entry age for CBP Officers."
On 3/4/08 it was changed for the second time. It now states the following:
"CBPO 08-02 amended on 3/4/08 due to change in Special Note 1 below."
Special Notes:
"1) Please note that the CBP Officer position will be covered by Special CBPO Retirement Coverage under Public Law 110-161 effective July 6, 2008. As a result of these provisions, the CBP Officer position may be subject to a maximum entry age of 37. Based on these changes, in order for an individual to be selected for a CBP Officer on and after July 6th, 2008, they would need to have taken the CBP Officer test and been referred for a CBP Officer position prior to achieving the maximum entry age for CBP Officers."
Notice that this time the they removed the words "Law Enforcement" and "will" to "CBPO special retirement" and "may."
