    Supreme Court Police questions

I'm in the process for the USSC police officer position. I have done as much research as I possibly can, and even after receiving a pamphlet during the testing phase, I still have some questions. Does anyone know what kind of clearance they get? I've heard it's similar to the Cap. PD, but I don't know what kind of clearance they have. Is anyone else in this process?

Has anyone had any bad experiences with USSC police or heard anything bad about them?

Lastly, I'm not sure I want USSC to be my last stop...will working for them hinder me, in any way, from going to another agency? (basically, do other agencies look at them like non-LE experience???)

In advance, I appreciate the feedback.

Had a buddy several years ago who applied with them and eventually went USCP. He said that his BI was for a TS clearance for both. Don't know if thats still the same, but would make sense.

FWIW, because of the time involved and the cost for processing a National Security Clearance above "Confidential", I would tend to doubt Supreme Court Police Officers would have National Security Clearances above Confidential. For example, it is taking well over nine months and costing over $8000 to process a Top Secret Clearance. So, unless Supreme Court Police routinely handle or have a demonstrable need to access "Top Secret" material, I would have to believe their clearance is a lot lower.

Also, the majority of Federal 1811 Criminal Investigators (Special Agents) do not routinely have or get Top Secret Clearances unless required by their assignments.

Many Federal Agencies also have their own "in-house" security levels such as "Critical-Sensitive", but these are NOT National Security Clearances.

@mcsap: Depending on the National Security Clearance level: Top Secret, Secret, or Confidential, the investigations are done the same.

For example, Secret and Confidential Clearances require the National Agency Check ("NAC"), Local Agency Check ("LAC"), and your Credit Record checks. A Top Secret Clearance requires the NAC, LAC, Credit, AND the Single Scope Background Investigation ("SSBI") along with field interviews.

Unfortunately, it is not as simple as that. For whatever reason, the military may and probably will not accept your civilian Agency National Security Clearance, and vice versa, your civilian Agency may and probably will not accept your military clearance. They both will redundantly go through at least part of the process all over again. I've never been able to figure that one out!
