We didn't get anything when I went through... well, one guy in my class made everyone cry and run out of the room but I think that was all the eggs he at the night before at the bar! :D

Lucky bleep. I went there last year for a three day advanced class and got stuck in building 275. Then I went to FLETC a month later for another class that was supposed to be an advanced class but my agency stuck basic in the title so FLETC would give it priority and I was in the Taj but we weren't allowed to drive to class. There were lots of basic students in the Taj as well.
I've also heard from reliable sources (instructors) that FLETC is starting to double bunk in the Taj (and possibly some of the other dorms) because of all the students. That and having to eat FLETC chicken usually eliminated any complaints from my students about having to stay in a hotel 25-30 minutes from the Advanced Training Center in Harpers Ferry when I taught there earlier this year. A full per diem didn't hurt either. Still, some found a way to complain. One guy was upset he only got a queen bed while others in his class got king sized beds.

MY first FLETC academy in Artesia, NM, yes its in the desert. We got gassed on a monday, snot, tears, gaggin, and OC'd on a thursday, tears, snot, which wasnt too bad i thought.
Then my second FLETC, just OC'd. Now Ive been OC'd many times at my last dept. but that stuff they used there at Glynco, F'n hurt.
I stayed in Bldg 96, by the pool. Some good digs I thought. Had a good time there, cougar hunting on the Isle of Jekell.

New update at FLETC...All the dorms now have an iron and an ironing board in them. I have a week before I graduate and then 5 more weeks of Spanish, so I guess I have NO escuse to NOT have a perfect crease in my pants and a badge that does not curl....damn man!!!! So guys and gals, no need to pack those irons and have to pay for heavy baggage.

Here are my FLETC tips;
1. Remember why you're there. This is not a party college. Go to class, learn, pass and go home to your new job.
2. If you do go out, have a good time, not a great time. A good time is a movie, meal or a few (few, people) drinks. A great time gets documented by local law enforcement.
3. Don't get hurt. It's fun to play softball or do other activities on your off time but try to stick to running and lfting (within your abilities). Having to leave after several weeks and come back for another class sucks.
4. Ask for help before it is too late. If you sense that you are, or may, have problems with academics, PT, Shooting, whatever, go to the instructors. They are there to help you. Don't fail something first and then ask for help (it may be too late).
5. Choose your friends wisely. Don't fall in with the "71 and a gun" crowd. Look for people who are striving to excel and get next to them.

I attended UPTP in 2007. Looking back I had a pretty positive experience. Advice I would give follows:
1. When you are out in town behave. The locals are proud of their community and they look down on people who disrespect the area. They are not impressed because your a fed. The local police will toss you into the local jail if needed. Just use common sense....treat everyone like you want to be treated and act like the guest you are.
2. If you can...bring your car. It sucks to be stuck at Flea-Tech on a three day weekend without wheels.
3. Brunswick is not a party town. They have a couple night clubs but don't cause any problems. I noticed the local police had an officer stationed at one club.
4. I found that the locals are very friendly if you refrain from acting like a big shot. I made several friends while I was there and still keep in contact with them. In fact, I met a local gal and we have been happily married. Not all FLETC romances work out like that!
5. Get off the campus when you can! The daily routine when I was there was busy and hectic. It will do you good to get off the campus when you can. FLETC had scheduled week end trips when I was there. Some of them were free and some required a very small cost. Many churches in the area have transportation for services. If you are a church going person I would reccomend it. I met some real nice people doing that. Thats how I met my bride.
Overall......study.......soak up what you can!! Enjoy the positives and just accept the negatives.
