Heard around 16000 applicants for 24 slots. Just got my "referred to selecting official" letter yesterday.

They seem to have a lot of 1801 slots available nationwide.

LOL, thanks. Yeah, like ROS said Its pretty tough to get in. You have to remember though a HUGE chunk of those applicants dont even meet basic quals, so you can whittle that number down somewhat. I was just happy I at least got referred! Originally Posted by RT302

Although 16,000 is higher than I like to hear, thanks for the info. I too got a referral and wanted to see what kind of numbers I was going against. I heard 1811 series was competitive but geez... best of luck!

I would guess that to be one of the most competitive 1811 jobs in the federal government, based on how many 1811's I know who say they would rather be doing that if they thought they could get hired. :D

There are currently around +/- 160 filled SA positions. It is competitive! By way of comparison, there are currently 208 uniformed positions within USFWS, and those can be viciously competitive;)
By Federal standards, compared to other agencies, USFWS is a VERY small agency.
