    FBI Investigative Specialist/SSG

    Hello

In september I applied to the Investigative Specialist position through FBI jobs.com

I didn't hear anything for a couple months and in late November I received an email from FBI postings saying thank you for applying and your answers are under review, and that I could adjust my answers until the closing date for the job, October 1, 2007.

Keep in mind this was in late November 2007.

Am I being impatient? Or should I make contact with someone, if so who? I'm not certain who would be able to provide me with answers.

I can handle the time waiting, I'm just nervous that my application was not received correctly or that the position was cancelled.

Also, if anyone else has applied for this position send me a message, I'd love to share some thoughts.

    Thank you!

I don't work for FBI, but I do work for a federal agency. The time it took from me sending in my application to receiving a letter for the next step in the application process was about 3 months. As a general rule, for me, I gave the agency about 2 months between steps before I tried to initiate contact to check on my application status. You don't want to be "that guy" bugging the people working in the field with phone calls about things they don't have answers to, but by the same token, you do want to ensure everything is still moving forward. Find a healthy medium.

Regarding who you contact, I couldn't tell you. I had a recruiter/applicant coordinator, and I'd assume FBI has the same for the position you've applied for. Push come to shove, call the office you applied out of (or the nearest FO if you sent your application to HQ) and inquire about who handles applications for support positions.

If you apply for any federal agency and you get a response within three months, I wouldn't be complaining. There's people who have been in hiring processes for years on this board.

    I understand.

I'm not in a big rush to get hired, i accept that this is a long road..

The email I received from the FBI made me feel uneasy, I don't understand why I would get a message telling me I can review my answers till Oct. 1 on Nov. 25.

What is even more frustrating is that I can seem to find a single person that I can contact regarding my worries.

I believe they send that email to everyone that applied for that position online. You should go to fbijobs.gov and check your application status.

Trust me, I check it daily.....lol

It just says application received...no comments.

I recently signed a 2 year committment with the company I work for, so I shouldn't be in any hurry....but the anticipation kills me.
