I was informed last week that I have made the hiring pool for NCIS. I was just wondering if anyone has any hiring pool numbers and when the next possible classes might start?

Conrats on making the hiring pool. Learn to be patient as you are now in the step that might take a loooong time. Unless you are one of the lucky ones.
My sources have told me that there are 3 more classes scheduled for FY08. Good luck.

I just got the call for the pre-screen interview, so I must have a long way to go....do you have any advice on the pre-screen and panel interview?
Futuro,
Yeah I have heard as much as well with regards to classes for FY 2008. Any ideas as to the numbers in pool right now?
Sammy706,
Other than the standard interview prep, there isn't much that I can tell you to prepare for. I had both my pre-screen and panel both on the same day so I am sure that my experience is a little bit different from the norm. Just brush up on selling yourself and have some good questions and you should be fine.

Congrats, Govman! I was in your shoes back in May of this year, and got an offer in late Sept. Don't hold your breath on a short wait, but make yourself available if the job is offered.
That sounds like what I've heard, too. Another CITP class after us started about 3 weeks ago that has some NCIS trainees in it. I think another will be started after the new year.

My new hero!
Has anyone heard anything about the "essay" that applicants have to do for the NCIS pre-screen interview...ie: what it involves?
govman98
My recruiter told me about 3 months ago that there were about 150 in the pool. So give or take that amount considering they took some people out for the two classes going on now and I'm sure more have joined the pool since then.
I've learned that patience is the key. Of course that is sometimes easier said than done. Good luck.

The essay is just that, an essay. You will be given a topic to write on and you have a time limit to put your essay together. I believe there were 3 choices for topics. No need to stress it, just clearly express yourself and keep it simple. Good luck.

Way back when I applied and went through the PSI (a long, long, long... 2 years ago :p) we didn't have an essay, as best I can recall. But, like I stated in the PM I replied back to sammy, I have done writing samples/essays for DS and AFOSI. One was where I was asked to write about anything, the other about why I applied with the agency. It was simple. All they are doing, for the most part, is reviewing your writing skills. You're being interviewed for an investigator position, which naturally involves writing a LOT of reports.
Don't overthink it. Both were cake.

I currently work at NCIS Office of Special Projects and the word we are getting is FY08 NCIS will get 125 new agents.
Unfortunately I am not going to be one of them at this year, which is why I am accepting an Agent position with Ed OIG.
Good luck to all of you in the pool. NCIS is a great agency to work for.

I agree with ROS that the essay really isn't something that you have to worry about. However, I would provide the caveat of writing neatly when you do the essay ;)
Griff5150,
It sounds like NCIS is really trying to do some hiring this year with 125 agents. If you don't mind answering what made you want to move over to Ed OIG?
I work for NCIS as an Investigative Specialist and was hoping to make agent. Ed OIG offered me an agent job so I took it. Cant wait around for NCIS to get around to making me an agent. You just never know with budgets, politics, and such.
When I interviewed for my position the 1st part was writting an essay. As soon as I arrived they put me in a room and gave me about 30 minutes to type out and essay about one of the two topics they provided. Then they brought me in for a panel interview.
Wear a suit (I know that sounds like a no brainer, but you would be surprised how some canidates have dressed), be yourself, be 10-15 minutes early, sell youself while trying not to be overly cocky.
If anyone has any other questions PM me. If I don't have the answer one of my co-workers may.

Greetings, I'm new to this website, but I do recognize some of you from other sites I've viewed. Learning of your successes has been helpful during this long process. Congratulations to you all, regardless of where you are in the process.
I was told my BI was complete and sent to NCIS HQ in November, 2007. Has anyone heard when the next hiring board will meet? Does every packet at HQ get reviewed when the hiring board meets or do they only review a predetermined amount based on the time they are submitted to HQ?
Based on your experiences, would it be wise to attempt to contact HQ to determine my status? I have received approval from my applicant coordinator to contact HQ human resources, but he could only give me a generic email address. Has anyone else been successful contacting HQ? What is the average amount of time between completion of BI and "pool letter"?
Thanks and good luck.
