    help with OLD Tyme Position

Folks, I have a friend who worked for this older couple. Very prestigous family of German Heritage. Back in the WW II era, the gentleman would frequently go to Germany etc. Claimed to work for the Goverment, but unknown who. Family says they think was part of the M M Crew or something like that. Anyone know if this was part of the CIA?
Basically this guy, who was a History Teacher, Archeologists by trade was in Europe in my best guess to gain information for the US. Nothing to substantiate my guess with but I got reason to believe that what was going on.
    Thanks if anyone can assists.

    qpd158,

Dates and times would be helpful. The CIA wasn't established until July 1947, well after World War II was over, so was this a post-war operation?

The predecessor to the Central Intelligence Agency ("CIA") was the Office of Strategic Services ("OSS") which was only in existence for a very brief time period (June 1942 through September 1945), so dates and times would help narrow down who he may have worked for.
