Actually, I was in Afghanistan then. It's been almost 2 yearts since Iraq.... and no, from the HRT guys that I did talk to, they are not "doing more "knuckle-dragging-trigger-pulling" than you give them credit". Then again, maybe they are just selling themselves short, telling me how they would beg to go over the wire.

...but then again, you could probably speak as to what is obvious FOR me. Thanks.

I would imagine that part of the problem is that as I frequently get confused about the differences between Rangers, Green Berets, SFOD, SEALs, SOCOM, etc. I frequently see those not in federal service get lots of federal agencies mixed up (I have been called an FBI agent, and a U.S. Marshal, (and worse) so many times, by people who should know the difference between us and them, that I have lost count).

And, as my own mea culpa, I did training at the RTB in Fort Benning in 1994 (and still remember thinking, 'How bad could something called the Darby Queen be?') Despite having worked with both on numerous occassions, I didn't really know the difference between a Ranger and Special Forces (who I called Green Berets, until a partner who was SF told me that was just a hat) until that week where we had lots of conversations with the Rangers during waiting and dead time).

And, I know that Switchback knows the other problem with some of the people in OGA's you run into OCONUS, and who they say they work for, (which a career in the Rangers, even in Afghanistan, unless you are in the 0-5 or above pay grade, may not have schooled you on, yet).

I've been less than candid myself, when approached on a military bases OCONUS and CONUS, wearing BDU's with no insignia, and when asked who I was, depending on who was doing the asking.

But, the federal agent world, like the Ranger world, is a small one.

Well I definitely know what you're talking about. I've seen quite a few OGA guys that I had no idea who they worked for. But these guys deployed with us in support of us, went out with us on missions, so their identities were quite clear. They even gave us recruitment pamplets funny enough.
